I guess I'm not seeing as to why this is a problem. If it is, the thats on her father and stepmother for being so petty that she has to second guess honoring her mother on Mother's Day.

Of course, it's perfectly ok!

@CherryHugs

I would think her dad knows who she is by this stage of their lives.

If she wants to post a picture of her deceased mother, on Mothers Day! For me, she does not need anyone's permission to do so.

As I said, her dad should know who she is, and understand. If not?  Sad!

A loving tribute to her mom is absolutely fine ! I will be posting a picture of my late mom on my FB page as well.

It's a loving and fine thing to do in remembrance of her mom. I have done it myself some years. Mother's Day is difficult for many of us who have lost our moms, and for many others who have lost children. Each person needs to celebrate and remember in what ever way is best for them.

My friend had posted an older picture of her Dad when he was young and very good looking. Her Mom when she was younger was very pretty.

 The friend had said she was thinking of posting her Moms pic but thought she would wait, and post it on Mothers day as a tribute.

She asked what I thought and I  said well I  think it is fine and no one in the step family should be offended, it is her own beloved Mom.

And she will always be and I said to her it should be her decision but she still wanted my thoughts.

I appreciate all of your comments in this. I felt I was right but I guess then I wanted to be sure lol.

The posting is mostly for her own benefit.  Friends respond better to a flower bouquet with "I Love you Mom:" and frame a picture for herself.
