Re: We lost a national treasure

Hugs @Andreatoo I feel it too! Thank you for all the links. The song about the elderly couple on the porch is so deep. He was like a Garrison Keiler storyteller in song form.  I was listening to when I get to heaven last night..."gonna have a vodka and ginger ale".

Re: We lost a national treasure

I am from Chicago and had the pleasure in the 1970's of seeing John Prine and the late Steve Goodman at the Earl of Old Town and The Quiet Knight many times. Sometimes they would bring their friend Bonnie Koloc a wonderful singer to perform with them.

Highlight of seeing them was Prine and Goodman opened for both Carly Simon and Kris Kristofferson at Chicago's Quiet Knight on Belmont.  Goodman and Prine both left so many wonderful songs in the legacies.

I think you especially will enjoy this interview from about a year and a half ago with John Prine and Bill Murray

I agree.  I went to grammar school, junior high and high school with Steve Goodman. This was part of the reason I saw them both so many times.  I was so proud of Steve.  They were definitely a talented duo.

I have some Goodman on vinyl. I haven't listened to it in years. He's been gone way too long!

There's a contemporary artist I think you would really enjoy and he happens to be a protégé of Prine. Jason Isbell? Are you familiar with him? He too is a brilliant lyricist
