No, not a big holiday to us once the kids were out of elementary school.

yet another contrived Hallmark "holiday". No my dh and I don't celebrate. Naturally when my kids were young I made sure they participated in the school activities

I enjoy buying the potted tulips for myself at Walmart that are inexpensive and cheer me up until Easter plants. I sent Mrs. Prindable  Pink Lady apples to my former  stepdaughter who has young kids.  First time trying them? A card and $10 for each child will be mailed. I think they still enjoy a card and of course money.

I send  out two cards to close friends who are happily married. One took me out for lunch with husband a few times. I used to wear a Valentine sweater with hearts when working with kids. I think I  still have that black and white striped one with a red heart Q sold. Alberti's maybe?

We used to have those little card exchanges in school and made Valentine Card boxes with paper lace doilies. Mothers made homemade rollout heart sugar cookies for us for our party. Those were the days.

We loved making Valentines boxes as kids out of Kleenex boxes, foil, paper doilies.  Now, we may get a card, and enjoy a day out.  We typically will not do gifts.

Hello To All!

When the Mr. was alive, we went out to dinner.  Maybe a movie.  Now, nothing.

In the past at our other house one evening, there was a parked car in front of our house and it parcially blocked the driveway.  It had a hatch and it was open.  A young man had decorated the tailgate inside with hearts, flowers, music, and other decorative items.  He had a tray of snacks and a bottle of Martineli's.  I asked him what was going on.  He explained he wanted to impress a girl on the next block but her father didn't like him so he parked in front of our house because it was the nicest looking house on the block.  She called him was was coming in five minutes.

I wished him a nice Valentnes Day.  A sweet memory.
