Do you and family and significant others make a big deal about Valentine's Day?

When my kids were little, we did make cards and decorations with red markers, ribbons and doilies (sp?). We hung them along the staircase and mailed them to relatives and friends...remember envelopes and stamps? Lol

I did get a fairly inexpensive jewelry gift from DH many years ago and asked him not to do it anymore although appreciated.

I have a red sweater and socks with red hearts, but that's as far as I go. No dinners out since usually special menus with higher prices.

Do you celebrate or acknowlege Valentine's Day? HeartHeartHeart

When my kids were little I did, but I made a big thing about most holidays for them. After they got older, not so much and never was anything ever done coming from my former spouse regarding me or our 2 kids. He could care less. One of a million reasons he is an EX--thank gawd!!!!

@Shanus, For years we celebrated with flowers, gifts, going out to eat. Now the flowers make me sneeze because of allergies, restraunt food taste terrible and we really don't need anything as far as gifts. We do tell each other Happy Valentine Day. I still enjoy the day being that simple. I'll drop off cookies and cup cakes at a medical office that I go to. I do mail cards to several people.

I was just out on Hallmark's webste. 😉

Since Valentine's Day is on Saturday this year, I invited DS to come up for the weekend. I have some red and white candles that I'll use left over from Christmas.

Dinner out sounds wonderful as long as the weather cooperates. If not, some carry out from the steakhouse works, too.

Oh, and there is an unopened jar of Williams Sonoma fudge sauce on the shelf. Sundaes or Ina's brownies, anyone? 🥰

@Shanus  -  I've never heard of any restaurants that raise their prices for Valentines Day.

I still make Valentine gift bags for the grandchildren.
One is an adult.😛 He gets treats and some cash or gift card.
The younger one has the treats too but I also include a pair of socks and some other items such as nail polish.

I haven't made a dinner in a long time but DH and I would always share a small chocolate mousse heart cake from Trader Joe's after some take out from our favorite Italian restaurant or favorite Middle Eastern restaurant.

We never went out to eat and really didn't get into cards and flowers.

Always crafts when they were little.

Not sure what I'll do this year. I saw the cake at Trader Joe's so I will bring one to DH at the nursing home.

@San Antonio Gal   I think some restaurants have special "Valentine's Day" menus with foods that they don't normally prepare and, no doubt, charge a high price.

Not now but did when the kids and grandkids were younger.
