When my kids were young I did the whole Valentine's Day thing.  I told my DH from day 1 not to get me anything just because it is Valentines Day.  If you want to do something do it on a random weekday because you want to.

Valentine's Day is just a big sappy money maker for FTD, Hallmark, Russell Stover and restaurants.

@San Antonio Gal   Some resturants here have a set menu that costs more than the regular menu which is not avail. on 2/14, New Year's Eve, etc.

Well all holidays and Mother's/Father's Day etc can be sappy money makers 😄

It's ok for those who celebrate and it's ok for those who do not.

As long as you're happy that's all that matters.

I got a surprise heart-shaped pizza for Valentine's one year.

Used to love helping my kids write out Valentine's years ago. Those were the

days and making a shoe box with colored paper and a slot to collect Valentine's

from classmates.

Chocolate covered strawberries are a great Valentine's treat too.

Back in the 70's our local White Castle took reservations for Valentine's Day - I don't think they raised their prices and it was a popular spot for frugal diners!

i wait for 50% off candy sales!  I do send cards and maybe a small gift to the grandkids.Mailing stuff now is so sketchy.

I had a date one time many years ago for  Valentines.  It was kind of exciting for me because he was the first boyfriend I'd had for a few years after a bad breakup.  He brought me a dozen roses and we had a nice dinner in Boston's North End. Wonderful Italian place ... when the waiter brought the check,  my date had no $$$ in his wallet.  He had to go find an ATM to get cash while I sat alone at the table. Fortunately the waiter was nice about it but we did hold up that table longer than normal on a very busy night.

No dinners out since usually special menus with higher prices.

@Shanus  -  I've never heard of any restaurants that raise their prices for Valentines Day.

In our very small town, the nicest restaurant prints a 'specials only' menu, and yes with high prices.

My wedding Anniversary is on the 12th so we celebrate on that day by going out to dinner if weather permits.

I always give something to my son (only child) can't help myself I love to give and now I have a sweet DIL and two beautiful grandsons to give gifts to. It makes me happy to see their faces they are very appreciative of anything they receive. Already ordered little valentines shirts for my grandsons.🥰❤️❤️
