I got mine almost 2 weeks ago. They did not give a date to come back for the second dose but said I'd get an email. Why do I wonder if I'll get that email? Why didn't they give me a card and a date? Maybe because they don't know if they'll even have vaccine. I'm hopeful.

I realize that by getting the second dose, I'm taking a dose from someone who hasn't had the first dose. I wish I could give my doses to someone in my family who has a serious health issue, but it doesn't work that way.

My mom is over 65. When NC opened up the vaccine to her age group, I started by going online. We live near Charlotte, and there are two large hospital systems here. So I logged on to both websites- that was a mess. The available appointments were not until end of March,beginning of April for one hospital system and the other system showed no appointments. I ended up calling the regular doctor's office and spoke to the receptionist. I played dumb, pretended that I was trying to book a vaccine appointment online and just didn't know how... and low and behold the receptionist says "Okay- I'll book it for you!"

She gave us an appointment time two days later, so my mom got her first shot. They also gave her an appt to get the second dose mid February!

I guess that my advice would be find someone in a doctor's office who is nice and has access to the computer system.

My dad was able to get his first vaccine through the VA.

I still don't know when I will be able to get a vaccine though. I'm university faculty and NC is prioritizing teachers... but I don't think that includes me.

i registered both her and my ex on the baltimore county website for covid vaccinations.

@@Sunshine hi Sunshine, thanks so much (and I'm sorry for the horrible typos!) I'm pretty sure they registered with the county and also with several hospitals. They tried the grocery store route and that was a disaster.

May I ask what the criteria was for pre-existing conditions? I have a few and my husband has been riding my butt to try to get an appointment but I'm only 60.

I am in Miami Dade County Florida and have noticed those of my neighbors/associates that have been able to get vaccines have had to go up to Broward county to get them! It's really sad how disorganized most seem to be

@Andreatoo Sorry, just saw this! I'm in PA, so not sure it would be helpful to guess what pre-exisiting conditions apply in FL. Every state is different. Heck, even within my state, different counties are different! Check your health bureau or city/county website. They will list what applies to your specifically.
