Re: Update From My Urologist Visit

I am so sorry to hear about this, @NickNack .  Waiting and not knowing are sometimes the hardest part in life's obstacles.  It sounds like you have a good medical network.  Take comfort in knowing you have done everything you can.  Stay proactive, but put your trust in your doctors and if you believe, the good Lord.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Update From My Urologist Visit

NickNack, do you take statins? There are some research papers out there that discuss some instances of lesions occurring on the kidneys due to statin use. Please have your urologist research this for you, since he has access to actual scientific resources to find and get these papers that most of us do not. I only know about this because I had to write a paper for school several years ago. I chose cholesterol as a topic since my dad had kidney failure related to statin medications. If the lesions are caused by statins, they are reversible, however, I am not a doctor, and this topic must be discussed thoroughly with a medical professional before you make any decisions. I just wanted you to have this knowledge so that you could discuss it with a medical professional just in case it is not cancer.

@NickNack. Sending prayers and positive thoughts to you.

Most renal lesions/tumors are an incidental finding as the result of testing done for another reason.  Thankfully the lesion was found.

Did the doctor mention removing it laparoscoply??? Robotic procedures are more popular now, however, the general consensus is they take longer this keeping the patient under anesthesia longer.

With all you're dealing with, it's no wonder your BP is elevated.  Hopefully your doctor can help with that.

I wish you the very best as you go through this journey.

@ThinkOutsidetheBox   Thank you for letting me know this, but I don't take statins.  My cholesterol is always in the normal range.

@grandma r   Thank you.  The Urologist just said that this particular surgery was always done robotically now in their practice.

Unfortunately, stress is not what caused my high blood pressure.  That started before I had my CT scan that found the kidney lesion.  My PCP is running other tests to find the cause.  She says it is secondary high blood pressure, meaning it's caused by something else.  She suspects kidney disease, which is not related to kidney cancer.

Re: Update From My Urologist Visit

Going forward is the part to concentrate on.

The waiting is the hard part.

What needs doing will be done, you accept it, and then you go forward and finally relax.

Not being in full control right now and listening to this and that and those and all who will help you sometimes is confusing and frustrating.

Wanting things done now is what we all tend to want to do.

Thoughts and Prayers for you.

Blessings

You've really got a lot going on, and I feel for you. I hope you get the information you need and can get all your issues taken care of. I hope, also, that you have friends and family to help you too.

Just saw this today, and didn't read all posts.  Just wanted to wish you a good outcome on your doctor's visits.
