This was sent out on my list this morning.  It's thought provoking. What would I say if I was asked that question.  I agree he should have told his parents what happened to him,  just thought I'd post it for a thought provoking story.  That's all.

Love in some families comes with conditions.   You have to follow rules according to their beliefs.   You have to remain the child they saw at birth.   You have to........ You have to.......    And I could go on and on.

This story would not have had the same impact if the son had been told to bring his friend home.

This story told of a son's horrible war injuries.    You could insert so many other storys into this and have the same terrible ending.

Some parents/people do not accept others who are different, even their children.  I know a woman who refused to accept her son's lifestyle.  She had no contact for years until she found out he was dying in a hospital.   She told us it was cancer.  We all knew different because his siblings always accepted and kept in touch with him. The mother was at his side the last couple of weeks.   Look at the years she missed enjoying a son who loved her very much inspite of her rejection.  His mother has had to live with her choices.   I know his sister and she honors his fight for life every year.

You guys do realize that this is just some anonymous writing. It's not a news story.

       It's something someone made up to make a point, it targets a specific audience.  Older women...   It probably came from an old Reader's Digest since it references Viet Nam.

Animals give true unconditional love, sadly it seems so difficult for so many humans to do that.

@Greeneyedlady21,

After running several organizations going back to my teen years, and meetings well over a thousand from all walks of life?  Give me my furry kids any day. Unconditional Love is a given with every single one of them that have owned myself and my wife for many decades. Unfortunately we lost 2 of them in the last 3 weeks.  ;-(

2 less.     =^..^=         =^..^=
