Sending you a Jeep wave 👋. Mine is a 2019 it still does not have 2000 miles on it. Almost 😅 My husband has one too but his is not his everyday vehicle. We love them. He wanted a new truck and I reluctantly sold my truck since we did not need two trucks. I hunted and hunted for an suv. I drove his Jeep while I was without my own vehicle and decided on a Jeep. I wouldn't drive any other vehicle.

Hope you guys don't own a Jeep Cherokee, because according to the web, the Cherokee Nation has started a movement for Jeep to stop using the name Cherokee on those vehicles, claiming 'cultural misappropriation".

@Lali1 sending a big Jeep grille filled smile back at you!  My husband and I had Liberty's for a number of years (I LOVED mine).  Then he wanted to upgrade to Cherokee's since he wanted a more comfortable ride, so we each got one.  My next one for me (if I ever have the chance) would be a Wrangler or the Gladiator truck.  I'm a ride or die with my Jeeps!  He has a Honda for his longer commutes for better gas millage.  I know they don't have the best reputation but we haven't had any problems with ours.

Re: Two weeks now...

[ Edited ]

@kaydee50  Vegas is dead except for Friday and Saturday. The crowd is very different too. If you are a gambler you are good, but if you go for shows, eating out, or anything else none of that has come back yet. Pools are opening late this year too.

There are a lot of Vegas You Tube live streamers so you could watch them on You Tube to get a feel for how slow it is. Lots of restaurants are not open yet. That makes it difficult to eat so you have to make reservations. Also, nothing is open past 7 or 8pm so if you enjoy eating late you will have to re-adjust(all the restaurants and stores close early Mon-Thursday, and stay open a tiny bit later Friday and Saturday, maybe 9pm)

It is picking up, slowly but surely, but without the international travelors, no conventions yet, and with everything limited to 25% capacity everywhere it is a very different Vegas. Masks are mandatory and the casino's are very strict about it (as they should be).

You probably already know all this but I figured a heads up would help you plan. There really is nothing to do but walk up and down the strip, or if you are going to old Vegas (Freemont Street) there is no live bands or anything, so there is not much there either.

I think they are moving to 35% open in mid-March. One You Tuber that has lots and lots of "news" videos is a Vlogger called Not Leaving Las Vegas. He is a local so he gives upates on what is open and what is not. He also live streams on Tuesdays and Friday/Saturday and you will see how dead it is during the week. He also has a Facebook page of the same name for info from real people.

There are only 3 hotels that are opening 7 days a week for rooming purposes (Mandolay Bay, Mirage, and Park MGM) beginning March 15? I think that is the date. The hotel casino's have stayed open though. The rest of them are only using their rooms Thursday through Sunday. If you have reservations at either a Caesers property or an MGM property (they own every hotel on the strip) that is not open they take your reservation and then move you to a sister property a few days beore your trip.

It's pretty crazy to see. The hospitality industry has been decimated by this pandemic. On a Monday Tuesday or Wednesday there is so few people walking around. Starts to pick up on Thursday as people come in for the weekend. It has become a weekend spot vs the 24/7 hussle and bussle before they shut down last March. About 70% of visitors are from California because they can drive and get out of their lockdown.

I cancelled 3 different trips last year as the reality of what was happening sunk in. Now, as I watch the You Tube people stream, I don't think I will go back until more is open. Until the shows come back. Until there is music, and capacity levels increase. They are truly hoping the vaccine being available will increase the visitor count. The big money people are not going there right now and they really need people to be gambling. Maybe by midsummer and into fall it will feel a little more normal but masking will continue probably until year end.(totally dependent on what the virus does and if there are any more surges)

Anyway, if you know all this I apologize. So many people are going expecting the same Vegas they are used to and it is not even close yet. Can only watch the fountain show so many times. Bars are open but not nightclubs. Night clubs and day clubs won't be back for a while.

If you are a high roller and have comped rooms, then have a great time! Smiley Happy It is pretty easy to get an upgrade right now because they have so many unused rooms.

No Cherokee. Both myself and my husband have wranglers.

It seems some people are just bored so they find things to be offended about. I heard this story the other day and just rolled me eyes.

@Lali1 yeah my fix for the name problem is put tape over the "okee" part.  That leaves "Cher"  I figure that might satisfy them.  I don't think she would mind.  LOL.  otherwise I have Indian on my mother's side so they can say what they want.   I LIKE IT!!

@gabstoomuch   Thank you for the info.  I do appreciate it and it was very informative.

However, the main reason we're going to Vegas is to look for a vacation home.  We lived in Henderson for 15 years and regret selling our place there 3 years ago especially after this month in Chicago--LOL!!!

We will also be staying at a "suites" hotel where we will have a kitchen and do some of our own cooking.

Even when there were shows we seldom went.  I'm not a Brittany Spears fan or even Donny & Marie when they were there.  Our favorite show was the yearly appearance by the Kingston Trio at South Point.

We're expecting a lot of changes and mostly just looking forward to a change of scenery.

Thanks again--good reporting job!

There is no way I could stay in my house all day, every day. I go out all the time even last year. We dine out at least once a week, I go shopping at Target, Costco, Lowe's, Kohl's etc, get my hair done every 4 weeks, go to the gym. I would go stir crazy if I had to stay home even though I am a home body.

@Lali1   Hang on to your Wrangler.  They may change the name because it offends ranch hands.  Yeehaw! Woman Wink

Fear not Brothers and Sisters! I have read THE BOOK..........we win!!!
