I remember Prell and Breck.  Not to change the subject, but does anyone remember "Dippety Do"...the green hair setting gel?  I think it came in pink too.  I remember my mother would set her hair on rollers with it.

@lOVETOSHOP. Yes I do, but since my hair was curly, used beer and the beer cans as rollers trying to look like Cher. Never happened.

I was lucky in those days - my hair is perfectly straight so my Mom would cut the bangs for me and all I had to do was wash it in the morning and comb it, and air dry. Because my hair is very fine I only grew it to my mid shoulder though, and had to wash it every day or it looked stringy. I had auburn hair so it definitely drew people's attention.

@qualitygal,

In a conversation with a JC Penney stylist in the 80’s about Prell shampoo, she told me it was best used as a carpet shampoo than anything for human hair.   Other than making luxurious suds, it had nothing in it to protect or strengthen hair.

Re: Trip Down Memory Lane......

I used whatever kind of shampoo mom bought, used Dipity Do and large rollers.  Also ironed my hair so it would be straight.

Prell is the only shampoo we used when I was a child. We all had thick,beautiful,shiny hair. I guess we got the good bottles.😬

[ Edited ]

My Mom always bought White Rain Shampoo and White Rain Conditioner. The only time I ever used dippity do was on my wedding day. I set my hair with it in the morning and didn't take out the rollers until we were ready to walk down the aisle. I drove to the church in my wedding dress and curlers.

Re: Trip Down Memory Lane......

My sister and I chose shampoo by smelling them. (in the drugstore)  The one that smelled the best we chose.  Also, we globbed on the matching conditioner.
