@cbrite yes, sadly, this is true. The reason is that a dairy cows purpose in life is to produce milk for human consumption, not to raise her baby. The calves are taken away that young to reduce attachment from mother to child. I disapprove of this practice, but to the dairy industry, it's part of life. ☹

Ohhh God no......no no no no.....have you seen how they take the new born baby and drag it off to a cage? I am devastated and find it horrific and heart breaking....what part of life ??? I will not drink milk again... that guy then slaps the mother cow, hard over and over, who just gave birth....placenta is still there... the world is not a nice place...well, humans are not nice...Vengeance is mine said the Lord.....so I must trust in Him. Thank you for your honest answer...😢😫

@cbrite Well, I can't speak for all dairy farmer's, but it sounds like the farmer on that you tube video isn't the nicest guy in the lot. They do not all treat their animals like that one apparently does. I live about a half mile from a dairy farm. I worked for the owner for 1 week while the family was on vacation taking care of the calves and feeding them. The calves are carried, not dragged, to a calf barn where they are taken care of.
Why would the guy hit the cow? That makes me mad. The placenta should come out naturally on its own.
It's true that the world isn't a nice place and that vengeance belongs to the Lord. He sees all and knows all and even though we want to kick some peoples hind ends, we have to trust that He'll do it for us.

He hit the mother cow as she was mourning and would not stand up, after giving birth. Yes, the baby was dragged, thrown into a wire cage....poor baby...the babies were lined up in wire cages....the guy hit the mother over and over on her rump area....get up, get up......jeez...I viewed several videos of several places...all doing awful things.. If I were God I would fix it and I would give my life if asked....

@cbrite I just want to add that there are times in the life of a farmer, that an animal does have trouble, and sometimes our method of aiding that animal seems cruel to the outside world. For example, to trim a cows hoof or to immobilize one to be doctored, they are often put in a mechanical shoot that lifts the cows. Some farmers last year were attacked as abusers when a video circulated of a cow in such a contraption, when all they were doing was giving it an immunization shot.
I have to pin my cows in a head shoot/tight panel space to doctor them. They just don't know how to stand still for medicines like a dog or cat can be properly held.
Sorry, I don't want to upset you, just wanted to point out if you see anymore videos that not all are bad because if what is seen or done

@cbrite I understand what that guy was doing, but hitting her repeatedly won't do the trick. The cow is supposed to get right up after delivery, and if she doesn't we're to encourage her to do so by nudging her rump, not hitting her. 😠 that dude needs to be hit when he's laying down.

I know about farms...I raised horses...and I saw a lot of what that owner of the farm did.......He had fighting c o c k s, and he'd shoot for the fun of it....I have seen what chickens do also to each other if diseased....they attack/kill ......
I was there in fields to the new born lambs...and to find the dead ones.... Late one rainy night, a momma lamb was in labor way too long..my instinct knew...the owner of the ranch (lived somewhere else and did not care) So, I called a Vet, paid and waaa laaa....2 twin baby lambs were born in the barn and fresh straw....Vet pulled both out, he'd swing them by their back legs and plop them down, they got air/and were happy and alive. Vet said I made the right call....... I most likely seem like a fool... but I do not care what others think......
A mare was giving birth in the winter cold/rain in a large field and I was running about after her with a hugh blanket....of course, she did fine on her own and my blanket was not needed at all. ☺️

@cbrite I had forgotten that you are a farm girl from your younger years and still are in heart. Unfortunately there are stupid people that shouldn't be farmers! But then there are good people like you that make up for some of those darker images and make them bright again. Your heart always is open for the less fortunate and you will be blessed because of it.

Knocked me down and the air out of me..🤣....I stood there crying and frozen, lol.. others were laughing and found it funny... I LOVED THE FARM.
I will try to find my filly..appy she was..I raised/broke her..
