Well, BH and I have an appointment this morning and we still have to get WGD out for his morning walk.

Later! Heart

Didn't make the beef last night so we'll do that today.  It's like a 5-hour process and we got a late start so we just said, "Tomorrow."

Also need to do more dishes and more laundry today.

Victorious!

Chose a wine for the beef based on a profile similar to Pinot Noir: Dry, medium body, low to medium tannins, medium-high acidity.  Also, it's a French blend, so it should work.  (I'll taste it before we actually add it to the pot.)

Re: The Bee Hive -- Winter 2020 Edition

Something weird is going on with this thread... When I logged in today, all the posts were marked new. That is normally how I know where to start. Now I'm kinda lost so I'll just have to start my own new post.

Our little thread has really been busy! So nice to see it so active. I'm away for a week and there are so many posts to catch up on. And lots of new "faces". Welcome to all!

Back to using things up. I track my beauty purchases and use ups and so far, no new purchases in 2021. I used up 3 things. Glad to finally get all the purchasing out of my system after the holidays. Even tho there are still some good sales going on, I haven't had the urge to shop. Phew, that's a relief. I guess the looming college tuition is also on my mind. Nothing kills the shopping urge like college tuition. And taxes.

I've been using the Kirkland brand body wash and huge bottles of Pantene Shampoo & Conditioner from Costco. For the last few years I was buying fancy body and haircare, some of it "clean beauty". But I found that the "clean" stuff actually made my scalp itchier. And Pantene didn't make my hair any better or worse than the fancy stuff. I still like the fancy stuff for my face. Oh and nice body lotion makes me want to use it so I think it's worth it for me. It's partly the experience and partly the functionality. I love good packaging. When the pump works like it's supposed to, that's such a satisfying feeling. When the packaging fails, it kills the whole process for me. Even if the stuff inside is awesome. I can't get past the packaging. Am I the only one like that?

HEP, still struggling a little with the post holiday sweets. A cookie here and there. I have to stop myself from doing my old decluttering act for sweets, eating them all to have them be gone. It's scary how just a cookie here and there triggers the sugar cravings.

I'm still meal-planning and it's been going well. One of the best things I've started doing.

@Oshare-girl

Yes, something is definitely wrong with our thread.  When I open it, I don't go directly to the most recent post.  As @geezerette  pointed out, it was actually "moved" and others couldn't even find it.

I'm hoping it's just annual maintenance.  We'll see.

I'm happy to see all the traffic and the occasional "new bee."  I still say it's a nice place to visit and have a conversation.

Yup -- nothing kills the urge like a huge expense and taxes.  Same difference, right?

And you're right.  What's up with the inferior packaging?  Why can't companies find the right shape, the right material, the right design or a functional pump?  I'm all ready to invest in backups of the Alba Botanica lotion I've been using, but I'm holding off because the bottle isn't even functional.  It's $20 a bottle and the pump doesn't work.

Reviewers have complained about the problem and the company has not addressed it.  I have to squeeze the product out of a 32-ounce bottle, exposing the product to air and bacteria because the pump is useless.

I'm using Suave shampoo and conditioner.  Somehow their pumps work perfectly.  When I was paying several times more for Acure, what did I get?  Itchy scalp.  Don't have that problem with the "cheap" drugstore product.  Go figure.

Again, if there's a cookie in the house, someone has to eat it.  BH doesn't eat sweets but he has no problem baking a batch of cookies and expecting me to eat them.

I don't buy them and I try to keep certain foods out of the house.  Okay, I do have biscotti in the house at all times but that's my Milk-Bone.

Meal planning helps.  You know what you need to buy and you waste less food.  We tried to support the local restaurants so they wouldn't close, but the quality of the food is just not as good as what we can make at home.  And it's just more cost-effective to prepare meals here.

We're having Beef Bourguignon tonight at home.  Where are we supposed to find that outside our house?  Restaurants are still closed to indoor dining.  Not a lot of French take-out in Albuquerque.

I spent two hours on the phone talking to our friend in Nevada, trying to convince him to start cooking again.  He had an unfortunate pizza experience today that will probably scar him for life.

The idea that even a bad pizza is better than no pizza at all?  NOT TRUE!

We have to just say no to the processed food that we're being forced to consume.
