@just bee

That's so funny!

I too have everything on my phone, the funny thing is I buy planners every, every year intent on using them. I love the idea of them but don't keep up with it but can keep my phone calendar...lol

I live with two phones M-F as I have clients who call me that took a little getting use to.

@MeriH

I still keep a paper calendar in my work bag.  I had saved all my calendars over the years but tossed them after the fire -- along with my collection of journals.

The downside of paper, I guess.

I'm heading out to Ulta today to do a bit of shopping in the store.

I never shop in the store, I always shop online. But I have 2 gift cards that I cannot use online, they have to be used in the store only because they have to be run thru as a credit card. That totally bums me out because Ulta is a half hour away and I'm just not a fan of shopping in stores anyway, but I'm tired of hanging onto these cards so I'm heading out today to buy $50 worth of stuff.

I have no idea what I'm going to get, I don't need anything. Maybe I'll find a pretty makeup set for the holidays. I also might look for an inexpensive set of hot rollers. I used to have some years and years ago, but I got rid of them ages ago too. I might pop for a new set of those.

Wish me luck today!

@rnmom, you can use the gift cards online.  There is a box that shows up right under the credit card section that reads apply gift card and when you click on it, it gives you the place for the number and box for the pin.

Are you saying you cant apply both cards on one order?

Happy shopping!!!!

@aprilskies - No, it's not that. I've used gift cards many times on online orders, but these gift cards are the "happy" franchise, you can use them at multiple places, and it specifically says on the front of the card run thru as credit. There is no pin on the back of them to enter, only a 3 digit cvv number like you would find on a credit card. I tried to enter it multiple times and it wouldn't work. I even called customer service at Ulta and she told me the same thing, I'd have to go to the store.

I did end up venturing out and I picked up a set of inexpensive hot rolllers, an expensive curling iron, a moisturizer and an eyeliner in a green color. Other than my blow dryer I don't own any styling tools at all, I haven't "curled" my hair in years, I just style it as I blow it dry. So I figured it might be fun to try to actually curl it again for a special ocassion.

It reminded me as to why I never to go the store though. Half an hour just to drive there and they didn't have a fraction of the items in the store that I can find online. I will definitely be more careful in the future and just get actual "gift cards" that I can use online. I don't want to have to go back anytime soon.

Unfortunately, I have a small Sephora gift card that is the same. I haven't shopped there in absolutely ages. I'm going to wait until December to go there because that is my birthday month and I might be able to get my free birthday gift.

Well, I got another box of books out. Being brutal about what I will read and what I wont and what I want to keep around.  Also, decluttered other misc things.  I am trying not to be hasty but this looming shutdown is making me act as much as time allows. I dont know if we are going into another shutdown like we did early this year but it sure is looking that way.  We already got the first wave of time closures for businesses. I just hope that is it but as hospitals are being filled to capacity around here, it is hard to think another set of restrictions arent coming.

I cannot believe that visiting nurses are backed up. They have a shortage of nurses and they are even offering a sign up bonus and getting no takers. I dont blame people at all but it hard not to feel discouraged at the state we are in.  We are all just going to implode. Is the plan working?

Anyway, nothing exciting going on here, just plugging along.

@aprilskies - Well, you're further along than me. I haven't been decluttering a darn thing lately. The only things that have left my house are obvious trash like plastic bags, magazines/catalogs, cardboard boxes, or things that have broken or been outgrown. And most of the broken/outgrown items end up being replaced.

It's even more difficult now to keep up with the house because the kids are back to virtual learning and home all day. They only had one marking period, 2 months, where they were actually in the classroom. They're never going to learn anything at this rate.

We've already had some specific sectors of our economy completely shut back down again. Businesses are dying, people are losing their jobs and there is no help out there. I know that our hospital is very busy too and that the nurses are getting tired. I'm grateful that I'm not working on the floors right now. But destroying the lives of thousands of people not affected by the virus isn't the answer either. Supposedly it's only for 3 weeks, but I don't believe that for a second either. It's all extremely sad and disappointing.
