I am happy to report that I am not getting them anymore for some time now.  I just don't answer when it's a number I see from a different state, etc. and they've stopped calling me.  It's quiet, and it's so nice!  Whenever I get a call now, it's for me, and this goes for my husband's cell  too.  We don't have a landline for years, but we would still get those calls.   Guess not answering is the answer - at least it works for us.

Congratulations! Early voting for the primary started in my state last week and my phone has been ringing off the hook every day and night with people who want me to vote for their candidates. At least I've already voted and can tell some of them, "Sorry, too late."

I only get them on our landline and the Call Blocker by Digitone took care of telemarketers, charities, surveys, robo-calls and politicians, like a dream!

Love the peace and quiet of the phone not even ringing unless it's a call I want!

I've never gotten one on my cell phone.  I get them on my land line all the time.  I have call blocking on my phone, but it doesn't block enough #'s.  I signed up for nomorobo years ago, but that didn't do any good as far as I can tell.  I never answer my phone if I don't recognize the #.  I got the call from the "IRS" a couple of months ago threatening me to pay back taxes.  They left the message on my machine.

Re: Telemarketer calls

[ Edited ]

I've managed to drastically cut down our nuisance calls as well. On the cell, I send all unrecognized numbers to the Reject list. If they call back, the phone doesn't ring and they are cut off.

While we have Caller ID the numbers keep changing and the calls kept coming -- several in a hour sometimes! On the landline, we have Verizon FiOS and there are two calling features I love: Incoming Call Block and Do Not Disturb.  I can list up to 100 numbers for the Call Block feature so each time one of those unrecognized numbers shows up I view our Calls and Messages roster on our account page and add the numbers to the blocked list. Then, for Do Not Disturb I list only the numbers -- up to 10 -- that I want to ring through. When I activate Do Not Disturb I can set the schedule and duration. Only people whom I've listed can get through during that time!

It's been delightfully peaceful. When calls are being blocked/rejected or the Do Not Disturb is activated, the phone doesn't ring at all. The telemarketers keep trying and they keep getting rejected. And I haven't had to deal with them.  BLISS

Yay!  I'm truly glad you aren't getting them anymore.

I've had my phones turned off for almost 3 months now because of the robocalls.   They started coming as early as 7am and as late as between 9 and 10pm.  What the heck!!!

I just wish that those of us who pay extra money for an unlisted and private number didn't have to deal with this.  Well, I wish NOBODY had to deal with this but it used to work that paying the extra fees precluded this stuff.

Now that you have auto-dialing (this should be so against the law!!) it doesn't matter.

I actually switched from the regular ATT service to ATT Uverse so that I could sign my number up for nomorobo.  Guess what?  Your phone STILL rings one to two times.  *sigh*  My phones only have the capacity to 'block' 30 numbers at a time so I have to go in and delete them from time to time, but even when they are blocked it rings once.

So, I turn them off and have to deal with missing calls I actually want just to decrease the anxiety I have with all this intrusion.   Fortunately, I really don't talk on the phone much at all.

Got one on my cell phone the other day.  Now, that is even MORE wrong.

Sorry for the rant.  This, and solicitors (at my door, laying on the doorbell, banging on the door, even though I have signs up), is the bane of my existence.

But yay for peace!!

We received a call from Washington DC on Friday and Spokane, WA on Saturday.  Both were pre-recorded messages informing us that the IRS has filed a lawsuit against us and to call them back immediately to discuss the matter.  Needless to say, we haven't been losing any sleep over these messages, lol!  If I knew calling them back wouldn't cost me $3,000 a minute I'd call them back and have some fun with them!  :-)

Your comments made me laugh.  My youngest son harasses telemarkerters when they call.  He interrupts them and asks their name, tells them he loves their name and asks what they are wearing.  He tells them he is turned on by their calls... And on and on. They hang up on him!

When he is visiting and sees a strange number on caller ID, he rushes to answer the phone.  He does this to male and female callers.  They don't call back.

I used to get these calls all the time on my land line phone.  Now, it's on my cell phone.  I don't answer calls that are outside my area code or calls I don't recognize the number.  Now, most calls ring just one time.  On the few occasions they leave a message I erase the number and don't call back.
