@Shanus.  How much time will you be spending outside?  Just going to and from taxis would be my guess.  You won't be required to frolic in the park.  Go ahead and GO.

@Kachina624  you might have to walk some in Manhattan. If you are a few blocks away from your destination you walk. Also walking around manhattan is wonderful that time of year. That is part of the charm of the city. Store windows are not to be missed.

No one can predict for weather on the dates that you might be on NYC.   New York gets cold in the winter and they get snow but it can also be unseasonably warm on any winter day.  You can Google for the average weather condition in December.  I do think the joy of going in the winter is the lights, the decorated windows, the shopping, the restaurants.  There's will be walking but if you dress warmly, you won't feel the cold.  You'll be having fun.  If there's been recent snow, the streets might be a little slippery.  But you won't bring heaps of snow in sidewalks that tourists and theatre goers have to use.

Go and have fun.  The sidewalks are streets should be fine, but boots might be comfortable.

If possible I would avoid the school holidays.

@Shanus - I live in NY and lately we have had mild winters, with very little snow.  Of course, anything can happen with the weather, but I would take a chance and go.  It is a beautiful show and definitely worth seeing.  My mom took me several times when I was a young child.

If you go, just dress warm and enjoy!

@twinsister Do you remember going to Radio City to see a movie (not at Christmas time) and the Rockettes would come out and do their show either before or after the movie?  My parents took us several times when we were young.

@haddon9 - Yes. I do remember that!  My mom took me often to see movies there, and like you, not just at Christmas time.  One time after the show and movie were over, we were waiting to cross the street across from Radio City and one of the Rockettes was standing next to us. She was in regular clothes, but she still had the theatrical make up on. My mom asked her if she was in the show, she said yes and my mom told her we enjoyed it.  I had to be about 6 or 7 and I remember staring at her, like just mesmerized by her, she looked so glamorous - LOL!!

I've never seen them in person and DH who's from NY originally saw them every year and wants to get tickets for us. My cataract surgerys aren't making it possible to go until the end of Dec. Is it snowy and too cold to go to NY then?

@Shanus I remember going to NYC to see the Rockettes in December and it snowed and snowed That has been quite a few years ago. Fortunately we made arrangements to get dropped off and picked up at the theater. I remember lines and lines of taxi's and limo's lined up to drop off and pick up people. A fun show though! Quite an experience LOL

@Shanus - DH and I have tickets to go on November 29th, provided there isn't any post election unrest and we cancel the trip.  Hopefully if there is any, it'll be over with by then.  It'll be our first time too.  Fortunately our airline tickets are refundable, just in case.  If we have to "eat" the Rockettes tickets, so be it.

Anyway, according to the AccuWeather website, here's a general idea of what to expect, weather wise, in NYC, in December.

I went 8 or 10 years ago.  Early December.  It was cold, but we dressed properly.  The show was FABULOUS!
