Of all things, I hit a table on the interstate that flew off of someone's truck. I tried to dodge it, but it took out the front left hand corner of my new Subaru. It's been in the collision shop for 5 weeks! The collision shop has been wonderful but State Farm has been terrible! I've used State Farm since I was 22 years old and I have them for my house, too. I'm now shopping for a new insurance company for my cars and house (a bundle hopefully). Who do you recommend? Who do you use for insurance and do you like them?

I been with State Farm for 33 years and I'm also satisfied. That said, I've known people in the past that hasn't been satisfied with State Farm for different reasons. You can call a few companies and compare prices and coverage etc. than go from there.

We had Farmer's and had to use them for a roof/gutter replacement. We had no issues. This March, we switched to Shelter, because Farmer's prices were getting out of control. My parents always had Shelter, and when I had to help Mom replace (ironically) her roof, Shelter was very easy to work with, too. Shelter is a regional company, so may not be available in your area.

That must have been scary hitting a table on the interstate!
We have been using Allstate for years. The only time that I needed to make a claim however was once for my DD when she had just moved to Philly and was in her early 20s.
Her car had been stolen and one of the people that we thought was responsible had called her (her name & number was in the glove compartment) telling her where the car was...OMG! No way would I have let her go!
My next door neighbor owns a Goodyear in the city and knows a lot of people including police in Philadelphia. I asked him what to do and he called the number that had been left.
I don't remember what he told us about that conversation, but he was on his way that weekend to go to the Jersey shore and decided to take a detour and go see what was going on at the address in the Philadelphia neighborhood where he was told the car was.
He also called the police to meet him there which they did. To make a long story short, he found the car.
It had been striped of tires & wheels and there was some other damage. He had his tow truck bring it to his shop and he repaired it. The cost was under 2k and Allstate covered it.

I have NO tickets or accidents, but my premium is so HIGH, that I have to mend my underwear and grocery shop at the dented can warehouse...
That WAS an exaggeration, but you get the idea(!)

@haddon9 @Now that's a scary story. Glad it had a happy ending!

@haddon9 That sounds like a scary situation, thankfully you weren't hurt. I thought State Farm was a good company. I have Allstate and have never had a problem with them resolving claims quickly.
