I've never seen them in person and DH who's from NY originally saw them every year and wants to get tickets for us. My cataract surgerys aren't making it possible to go until the end of Dec. Is it snowy and too cold to go to NY then?

@Shanus - I live in NY and lately we have had mild winters, with very little snow.  Of course, anything can happen with the weather, but I would take a chance and go.  It is a beautiful show and definitely worth seeing.  My mom took me several times when I was a young child.

If you go, just dress warm and enjoy!

@Shanus It's a hit or miss.  It usually really doesn't get very cold until January but it could get cold ....or not.  It's usually not very snowy either. ....but you never know.

Like many places the weather can often vary a lot from year to year.

Sorry this isn't very helpful but I would just chance it and go if you really want to go!

I went when I was a kid and took my own kids once when they were in elementary school.

I agree that it is hit or miss with the weather but it is a fun show.

I don't know if you plan on taking your granddaughters but they would definitely enjoy it.

Christmas time in NYC is always worth the trip.

@twinsister Do you remember going to Radio City to see a movie (not at Christmas time) and the Rockettes would come out and do their show either before or after the movie?  My parents took us several times when we were young.

@Shanus   The Rockettes are well worth it and IMO a "must see" at least once.

As far as weather, it can be anything from the 60s to single digits in NYC in December.

GO!

December in NYC has been very, very mild in recent years.  No real snow, no real cold.

As noted by others, real winter weather in this area has shifted to January,  February and even March!

When I lived in upper New York and Rhode Island many moons ago I always remember January and February being the coldest months.

I assume you will be staying in Ny. Even if it snows the streets are cleared very quickly and you will be able to get around. Haven't been to a Rockette  show since I was a kid, but it still a nyc attraction so I imagine it is still worth seeing. Since you live in a warmer climate bring very warm clothing since you are not used to the cold. Wear ( or bring boots) just in case. You can watch the weather online and know the temperature for that day.
