Along with better anesthesia, most anesthesiologists and surgeons give anti-emetics such as Zofran.

I'm with you. Doctors and hospitals drill it into everyone that you can't eat or drink after a certain time. It also cost the hospital and doctor a lot of time and money.

For those who responded to you with snark must not realize the cost involved. Reserving a surgery room is expensive....let alone staff, nurses, medications, etc etc. It's not a matter of you needing a hug or being "perfect", it's a matter of respect and responsibility.

Absolutely! I feel the same as Big Joanie! Scheduled for surgery I wouldn't think of drinking anything other than water hours before! Yep, must read instructions given out!
