A friend is in rehab at a nursing home for an injury.
I want to take a little something when I go and visit her but
cannot think of anything at all to get her. I would love a few suggestions! Thank you ![]()

Small box of candy or large she can share with the hospital staff - flowers - reading material or if she likes puzzles (book with pencil kind - where's waldo - find waldo) LOL

What are her interests? Does she like to read, for example. If so, maybe you could get her a book by her favorite author or offer to read to her. Does she get manicures? If so, you could offer to polish her nails. I think it's very thoughtful of you to want to do something nice for your friend. Hope all is well with her during rehab.![]()

Think about her injury. Maybe something to help with that. Example - if she is on medication for it and the meds are causing her skin to be dry bring some quality unscented lotion.
What are her interest? Bring her something to pass the time. A variety of puzzle books.
Is she someone who is always cold.? Bring her a blanket or socks for her feet. Is she always hot? Bring her a fan.
You could ask her if there is anything she needs. Or if there is anything she is missing. Like if everytime she ran errands she stoped at starbucks. Bring he starbucks.
I am sure between suggestions on here and your own brainstorming , you will come up with something. I would just call the nursing home and clear it with them first just in case certain thing aren't allowed in the room for whatever reason.
Regular visits are probably the best gift of all.
Bless you and your friend

My husband is in a rehab hospital now. There is little room to display flowers and a fan would not be allowed because someone could trip on the cord. Your visit is more important than a gift.
I would ask your friend if they would like some food from your favorite restaurant or if you cook a favorite of their's you could bring a small meal. Usually the food at rehab is so bland and awful. Also, clear it with her nurse that it would be ok.

Most patients are kept busy with their PT and exercising on their own. Often, the food isn't that great. Call your friend and ask if she'd like something edible. If so, what? Often leftovers make the best gift! Or a food from his/her favorite restaurant. I'd stay away from candy or flowers, which have probably already been received.
Your visit will be the most welcomed! It gets lonely in those rooms while in PT Rehab. according to my mom and several friends.

Maybe bring her a homemade lunch or dinner—-something she really likes. Nursing home food is not too good!!!

I love the lotion or food ideas that people suggested...visits are the best.My mom and her friends love to brag about how many friends or family visited during a rehab.I think helping to pass the time until they are home again is most appreciated and shows love and caring more than anything else.

1. A meal from her favorite restaurant...something with flavor....nursing home food is bland and boring.
2. Offer to do her nails....if she is into manicures.
3. A pair of warm, pretty socks with the nonskid things on the bottom.
Anything you can do to normalize her day will be appreciated by her.

I would take a nice, plush throw. Temps can vary and something nice and plush is always a comfort to hold onto.
