What are your thoughts on this? I read an article on this today. I feel it is a good idea with the way some girls dress nowdays!!

If we all had the same opinion or everyone was the same. the world would be a very boring place!

Hi @HouseMouse.  Can you share more about the article? Like, what was the dress code? I agree that many of the girls dress inappropriately. When my girls shopped for prom they chose dresses that were very pretty but covered them up.

Re: Students Protest Prom Dress Code

I'm all for prom dress codes. The way some parents allow their daughters to dress is outrageous. High school girls have no business showing lots of cleavage or dresses so short that you're afraid to look at them as you might see their "nether regions."

And I've noticed that many girls who have large breasts really like to show them off in prom dresses.

What's wrong with a little modesty? I'm not talking about high collars and long sleeves but good grief. Show some good taste. Who wants their daughter to look like a skank? And why do some girls want to dress like that?

I'm so glad my DIL and her daughters don't dress like that!

Re: Students Protest Prom Dress Code

Most of the schools in the area where I live have a dress code for the prom.  Some are pretty strict and others are more lenient.

Occasionally, someone  has been turned away and sent home for improper attire. It is always on the news with all of the boohoohooing that goes along with it.

I think parents should be the ones to determine what is acceptable or not, but some of them are nutty IMO and don’t make good decisions. I honestly think they put their daughters up to it to get on the news and to start trouble and challenge authority.

Bottom line: the kids should follow the dress codes, if there is one or stay home.  They will have to do this in real life when they are out in the workplace, so they might as well get used to it.

The prom codes in my area are not over the top.  They are what you would expect a modern young women to be wearing and the dress shops have dresses that fit the codes.

I, myself wore a backless to the waist prom dress in 1972 to the prom at a Catholic School that was completely modest.

Thank you, @MezzieStarr

I have no problem with the restrictions. I think the prom dress has gotten out of hand, for some girls. Actually, everything about prom has gotten out of hand.

Boys shouldn't be allowed to wear dresses. Unless they shave their legs.
