Re: Snow Is Falling In The Northeast

@rockygems123       I have Duraflame electric logs in my wood-burning fireplace.    I'd rather have gas, but I live on a pile of rock, and they can't lay pipes around here.    di

@Biftu Love Jules pizza!  There is one right in Newtown & they own Lovebird too...also in Doylestown & Newtown.  Love getting a chicken salad or sandwich take out from them.

Have you tried Terrain in Doylestown?  It's only been open for a few months.  It's beautiful and unique!  I've been there a few times now and have been to their locations in the Main Line area.  It's so nice that they located to Bucks!

@haddon9   I have been to Lovebird only once, I keep forgetting about them.  Terrain is a great spot, especially in the nice weather.  Unique gift shop but expensive.  Last time we went you needed reservations so they must be doing just fine.

@Biftu   I went to Terrain over the holidays twice for dinner and it's just beautiful the way it is lit up.  I tried to go when the weather was nicer but couldn't get a reservation.  I'll try again in the spring.

They do have some beautiful things in the shop but I agree it's very expensive but great for some ideas!

Re: Snow Is Falling In The Northeast

In coastal MA, we are just getting some icy rain now.  They say the snow will start this afternoon and the accumulation will be 2 to 4 inches.  I'm ok with that.  That's basically nothing.  But later in the week, they predict a rain and wind storm with hurricane strength winds on the Cape and Islands.  That's worse than a couple of inches of snow.

That sounds like a good solution.

Do the logs give out much heat?

@rockygems123

I would say the logs put out an "adequate" amount of heat.     My heat pump doesn't work when it gets down in the low 40's, and I did not add the "emergency heat" option since it is too costly, and we have a short winter season.

The house is a "casita" with a living/dining combo, about 20' x 30', and I use the dining area as a "den" where I can also sleep, so I don't need to heat the bedrooms.   No "family" or "great" room, either.

I also use a space heater in the bathroom.   I have found this to be the best way to keep warm without adding an astronomical amount to my electric bill (!!)

PS....the "BIG STORM"  kinda fizzled here.    Only about .07 of light rain, and no high winds.     We do have a HARD FREEZE warning for tonight, tho.       di

Southern WV is at 32, ground is wet, with occasional flurries, but not getting the kind of snow that accumulates.

Ok good to know about the logs.  It makes sense why you're creative with heating as a 20'x 30' room is huge.

Pffft .07 light rain, at least the grocery stores most likely had a windfall lol.

Oops I may be confusing you with the East Coast people who were expecting a pretty decent storm i.e. run on the supermarket.

Unlike @Desert Lily you're still in AZ Smiley Happy
