I know who she is but I follow gymnastics when they air it. She is a gold medalist. She's on with Johnny Weir hosting figure skating sometimes.
That's horrible for her to go through. People these days do things differently then we did. Times have changed. If that's how she wants to deal with it that's up to her.
IMO that's private & nobody's business. ITA people divulge way too much info on social media.

Personally, I am repelled by people who have no sense of privacy. The worst part is that they seem to think they need to "share" everything and so do you. I don't.
I remember her now. Long time ago.

In my opinion, I feel its a very private thing. I am sorry , I am one of those that do not do facebook, instagram, twitter. Its just too much. I do not want everyone knowing my business and frankly I do not want to know theres. The world has changed due to it and not for the better.
Such heartwrenching events should be a private thing. Just my opinion, I am just an old dinosaur I guess. HATE social media. I only post on this forum, thats about it.

I so agree with you. Putting the most private life events on social media is totally offputting to me. It begs for attention. Recently I had a loss and no way would I "share" it. Nope, ain't happening. Neither do I find a need to take endless pictures of myself and post them.

ITA, and very well stated. Thank you.

Seems like it should remain private. I don’t know why people need to share that on social media

I cringe at some of the things people find suitable to share with strangers

I'm a very private person, but I've never gone through what this woman has experienced, so .I can't judge her. We have the choice if we want to read about her experience or not, if it gives her a bit of solace, then maybe it's a good thing

Y'all do realize that Facebook is what you make of it, right?
I only have two pictures of myself on mine.
That it.
Just two.
I also don't post on it every single day, nor do I post extremely personal things on there.
I highly doubt that I am the only person who is like this.
Facebook isn't the evil incarnate, that some like to try and make it out to be.
It is only as good or bad as you make it.

Really, it’s all going to be just our opinion based on our age and our personality.
An introvert/private person wouldn’t do it at any age. Those who have lived most of their lives with little or no online presence probably wouldn’t. But someone 30 and under doesn’t look at sharing online like an older person does and never will - just as someone 40+ will most likely always regard extreme sharing (or any sharing) with horror.
This is going to be split by age and personality type, but mostly age I feel.
My personal feeling is that I don’t have to watch everything, and if it may be genuinely therapeutic not only for the poster but others, who am I to say they “shouldn’t.”
