Re: Shawn Johnson miscarriage

I guess that it never occurred to anybody that the reason that she put it out there was because she wanted to let others know that they are not alone in the emotional and physical pain of having a miscarriage.

I think that it was brave of her to share her pain with the world like that.

Not everybody would have the strength to do that.

Re: Shawn Johnson miscarriage

Since somewhere between 15 and 20 percent of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, it should not come as a surprise when it happens.  Enormously disappointing, yes, but since women aren't supposed to say anything until after the 3 month mark, it can almost be expected .....  on occasion.

Re: Shawn Johnson miscarriage

Oh KAY.

Did no one watch this video?

”Posting her whole miscarriage?”

She and her husband apparently do a lot of video blogging routinely.  She probably had just read a positive test, and decided to incorporate her “I’m pregnant” news with both hubby and her followers, so that’s how the tape began.

The next thing you see is Shawn curled up on her couch, calling her doctor and explaining that she’d had a lot of abnormal bleeding (this was only a couple of hours later, same day). That’s it.

The next thing is she & hubby on the way to her doctor’s office to find out what’s up, whether she’s pregnant or not. She gets her BP taken...oh so personal and invasive...NOT.

She & hubby listen to her doctor tell her that she miscarried, and that she was in no way responsible at all. That’s it.

They drive home, and finish the video saying they were sad, and wanted others to know it’s common, and they are not alone. END OF VIDEO.

Did the OP and eeryone who thought it was “so disgusting” think they filmed the products of conception in living color? Bloody towels? What?

I fail to see what on earth is so disgusting or horrifying about this video or her decision to post it. I simply don’t.  At.all.

Mountain out of a molehill IMO.

I wasn't saying saying anything about fault here, just voicing an opinion. No need to be so defensive!

Defensive? You read that as defensive?

Lordy no, that would not be the word I would use. Nor did I say anything about fault.

Perspective, and overreacting, absolutamente.

Moonchilde, my comment was in response to a comment made by Alratiba not you.

But I think you have spent way too much time & energy on this topic. We agree to disagree on things that's all.

Re: Shawn Johnson miscarriage

I wouldn’t have filmed it let alone put it on social media. That being said to each their own!! Everyone deals with pain differently.

LOL! I’m sorry, that’s hysterical.

You started the thread, you posted your distaste. And since I have a different POV and said so, I’ve “spent way too much time & energy on this topic.” OMG. Too funny.

Re: Shawn Johnson miscarriage

This is one of those situations in which no way is WRONG and no way is RIGHT.

If I weren’t speaking from experience, I wouldn’t express an opinion, but when I was in this situation, the cheeriest, most helpful comment anyone could make to me was “You can always try again”.

Then some “expert” decided that grieving moms shouldn’t be told that, and THAT was the day that I learned that NO ADVICE WORKS THE SAME WAY FOR EVERYONE.

SO PLEASE, respect individual reactions to tragic occurrence, and do what YOU think is best for yourself.

@Moonchilde   Speaking of overreacting...
