Although I really like Shawn Johnson & her adorable hubbie Andrew, I was a little put off by the video they posted of her whole miscarriage from start to finish. They were even in the gynocologist office showing ultra sound, etc. I realize this was very traumatic for them & that it is vey common, but I wonder why somethings aren't kept more private. Does anyone think social media sometimes shows us more than we need to see??

I don't know who Shawn Johnson is but generally speaking I do not think everything should be on social media, especially something like this.  Maybe it is therapudic for the couple, I don't know.  However, sometimes you need to be private and maybe just share this with your closest friends/family.

Shawn Machel Johnson East (born January 19, 1992) is an American former artistic gymnast. She is the 2008 Olympic balance beamgold medalist and team, all-around and floor exercise silver medalist. Johnson is also a five-time Pan American Games gold medalist, winning the team titles in 2007 and 2011, as well as titles in the all-around, uneven bars, and balance beam in 2007.

Johnson became a member of the U.S. senior team in 2007. She had one of the best rookie seasons ever recorded in the history of gymnastics, winning the all-around at the American Cup, Pan American Games, U.S. National Championships, and World Championships all in her first year as a senior gymnast. She is the 2007 individual all-around World Champion, 2007 World Champion on floor exercise, and a member of the 2007 gold medal winning U.S. gymnastics team. As well as being the 2007 U.S. Champion on balance beam and floor exercise, the 2008 U.S. Champion on floor exercise and silver medalist on balance beam, she is a three-time U.S. all-around Champion, winning once as a junior and twice as a senior.

Johnson announced her retirement from gymnastics on June 3, 2012.

Grieving is different for everyone. I know that I still feel hurt that when I suffered my first miscarriage, most of my husband's family acted like nothing happened. They probably thought it would be painful to bring it up. But for me to take a trip to go to see them after and not even a word of sympathy or acknowledgement that I'd lost my baby still pains me. I was six weeks. The same thing happened when I had my second one and I was much farther along. My MIL came for a wedding to NYC a few months later and not even a word, a hug or anything. 

Some people have the erroneous idea that if you're not that far along, it's not that bad to have a miscarriage. I read this young woman suffered hers a few days after she found out she was pregnant. I just imagine the pain. I never thought it would happen to me. The loss was so enormous that I was depressed for some time and I struggled to break free from the fog. 

It seems to me that sharing her story will help others that suffer loss because most times it's not talked about. My mom never told me until it happened to me that she had suffered two miscarriages before I was born.

I believe Shawn Johnson's candor and openness makes her baby known and her loss real when some would say it's not a big deal. Whatever works for her to cope is what she needs to do. I know for a fact a woman out there who is going through the same thing will find some solace knowing she's not alone. I felt so alone and insignificant and that was so hard.

I have no idea who Shawn Johnson is.  If she filmed her own miscarriage and posted it on social media, she must be a sicko.  Some people just don't have any sense when it comes to social media and what they share with the world.  Dignity and self respect have flown out the window if you ask me.
