I still have my Singer that I bought 50 yrs. ago. It was my first significant purchase and I made installment payments for six months, to begin establishing a credit history for myself. I used to sew a lot in the beginning and made costumes for my kids when they were young. I don't use it much anymore but it's handy when I need it.

@Irishgirl555. My piece of "junk" has been going strong since I got it new in 1964. I don't use it a lot nowadays but there have been times it got very heavy use. It still runs like new. I once made my complete work wardrobe, as well as a lined patio door drapery and even a vinyl boat canopy on it.
Well darn, I ordered a new pedal from Amazon but it didn't help! So back it goes. Have checked all plugs and dusted and dusted! Out of ideas but thanks to all for offers to help💞
I would go to Youtube and search for Singer machines and look for you specific machine; also just do a google search for your machine and there may be a troubleshooting section in the manual you can download. Good luck!
