If I look nice with clean hair, makeup and dressed nicely and I go out and about I see No One that I know.
BUT if I go out my hair is not so clean, not dressed so great, and very little makeup I see at least one person that I know!
Or at home if Im skanky and just hanging out and dont bother with makeup or clean hair someone will stop by. Of course if I am looking fine for company no one does lmbo.
Seems to never fail, how about with you?!!

Same as you. Can't even sneak out in the backyard to pull a few weeds looking ratty without a neighbor spotting me and wanting to yak over the fence.

Yes, that is exactly how it is with me too, lol. If I look really bad, I its about a sure bet I'll see more than one person. And if my house is a mess, chances are someone will drop by.

I don't have that experience, cannot even wrap my mind around it because I never..ever...ever go out without looking my best. It's not who I am. Same with my at home days. I don't actually have any friends or family who would be so rude that they would just drop by unannounced, not even my girls would do that. Still, the UPS guy comes, the mailman. I get groceries delivered, I send laundry out. People see me. And most of all hubby sees me. No man wants to see a skanky hot mess in the kitchen. So, even on my at home days; I still look nice. Not just presentable, nice. And there's myself! I had the experience recently of looking at myself in the mirror without some makeup and lip color. I looked old and tired and that did make me feel good about myself.

While I might not go out without at least some makeup and nice clothes, I'd hate to feel I couldn't go makeup-free at home. I figure it gives my skin a rest and a chance to breathe.
I always look decent, but my DH loves me no matter what. He certainly wouldn't be shocked to see me au naturel. I don't expect to see him in suit and tie either, when he's home.
And, if friends or family drop by unannounced, I don't consider that rude. I take it as a compliment that they wanted to spend time with me. As my mother used to say "My friends come to see me, not my house."
None of my friends or family would be traumatized for life by seeing me "casual". I'm glad I don't feel constrained to maintain such high standards that I'd have to hide, if (God forbid) someone dropped by unexpectedly.

While I am not obsessive about it, I do try to put on moisturizer. lipstick and my eyebrows before venturing out. If I have time and am going to do several errands, I put on light makeup and blush, too. I look and feel better in makeup!
The thing is, you never know who sees you but doesn't say anything to you.

I think this is the way it should be, and I love the things you wrote.

I get teased by my family about my applying makeup and dressing nicely even to go out for the mail! My daughter remembers when she was a child, I'd do my hair and put makeup on before my husband got home from work.
My first two children are two years apart, almost to the day. I distinctly remember one day when my son was about 2 years and a few months and my daughter was an infant, I started putting rollers in my hair early in the day. By late afternoon, I only had about 4 rollers in! Taking care of 2 babies was all consuming!

I think that's called "Murphy's Law" or expect the unexpected. LOL

@chrystaltree I half agree w/ you. I, too never go out or stay home w/o shower, clean hair, tinted moisturizer, blush & lips...At home, the same. No pjs, sloppy lounge outfits, etc. I just don’t do full face makeup (my 5 minute face which includes eyes) unless I’m going out to run errands. I don’t think I look old or tired without makeup....just pale/no color.
