We had a 'Gladys Kravitz' who lived across the street from us, I back my car in the driveway so I don't always see her coming towards me when I turn to shut off my car there she is with her face in the driver's side window that would scare the cr*p out of me! She couldn't wait to tell me the lastest, it got to a point that I had to hide from her, hubby would talk to her, not me and quick wave and in the house, having someone like her was good and bad, she moved away about 4 years ago to live with her daughter.

@meallen616, that last lady on the right doesn't look like one of my grandmothers but she always sat just like that with her hands the same way!💗

And this is why I hate having neighbors. As a kid we had an old biddy peering out her kitchen window all day..........plus the man right next door was just as bad.
Karma got the man though. While he was keeping tabs on the kids around him his own DD got knocked up and had a baby while a senior in high school. Her boyfriend was nowhere to be seen.
Getting married and moving here was worse this whole burg is a hot bed of nosy busybodies.

Reminds me of the block where I grew up.
The woman who lived two doors down the street - if you were "doing anything" as you passed her house on the way home - your mother knew about it by the time you reached home.

In my neighbor now, I have two nosey neighbors that are both kitty-corner to my house. Heavens, they know everything that goes on in the area, lol.
I avoid them at all costs and don't chat with them about anything but the weather.

@riley1 When I got married one of my DH's many brothers got married 2 months later. His wife and I were outsiders (not locals) and slightly resembled each.
No one in this town bothered to figure out who was who. I got called Laurie all the time. Nope, I'm Jane, the other one. When I got pregnant a woman ask if Pete was happy about becoming a Dad. I told her I didn't know it wasn't his baby. After she almost had a near fatal case of the vapors I said, "I'm Jane and I'm married to Jack and he is tickled pink."
Know who you are talking about or keep your mouth shut. Geez. Small towns suk.

I grew up in a major city.We I first got married we took an apt. in a house(at that time apts. were hard to find) across the street from my parent's house..Everyone knew me on the street.I grew up with their kids.
One old woman went to my Mom and said "why is your daughter screamining at that new baby?"..My Mom called to see what was wrong..I told her..I wasn't screaming at the baby!..I was yelling at your son in law..He doesn't argue back!!
No we live where we don't have neighbors.

@Jo1313 Don't ya love it. My MIL would announce "they" say so and so are getting a divorce or he/she is fooling around.
I finally ask who is "they" and why is it any of their business? Half the time it was just gossip, nobody really knew the truth so they guessed.
