I have a question. Anyone v Anybody or Someone v Somebody, are they interchangeable?

It's the really simple errors that make me cringe ... and wonder about the age of the poster.

How many times I see "try and" instead of "try to".   What does "try and" mean?

Not easy to ignore when the poster doesn't know when to use "too" instead of "to".   Didn't they teach that in third or fourth grade?

For texting abbreviating makes perfect sense. But I do know that everyone does not text.

You all feel free to correct any of my errors.

I cringe when I hear the newer pronunciation of "Empire",

as in an "Empire Waist"

Did it change for the building in New York city, too?

I have always said "ahm peer".  It is the French pronounciation and that is how I learned it many years ago.  It sounds more dignified to me.  I don't like to hear it like the building.  Just my observation Smiley Happy

Re: STOP! Grammar Time...

[ Edited ]

The most common mistakes I see - lose vs loose, except vs accept, to, two, or too,  and lately a lot of FB posts or people saying "I seen . . ".  Drives me nuts, more so bc that one doesn't even sound right coming off the tongue.

I have no problem with the shortening of words or spellings that are now commonly used to shorten texts or in Twitter on this forum but agree it's not something appropriate for a resume or a case where you need to impress someone.
