Re: SEPTEMBER 2015 - Back Fence

LOL about the shoes...you got that right!

I gave my co-worker, Cabin Boy, my infamous "look," and turned the fan on high...which caused papers on my desk to flutter around, but I was committed because of "the look."  LOL.  I should charge my employer combat pay for sticking it out for 3 durned days!!

I'm flatout jealous of your cooler weather.

Re: SEPTEMBER 2015 - Back Fence

MacDuff, had to chuckle at your post. Heat sometimes can really get to you can't it? I know out here in Sou Cal we have been roasting - literally - for some time. And with no water to play in, makes it even worse.

Lately have decided one cannot possibly eat too much ice cream - sure has tasted good and it DOES cool you off - for a short while anyway.  Those 99 cent cones at MacDonalds have been lifesavers when you are out and about. I can slurp one of those up while driving with no problem. Suppose to be a bit better tomorrow however.

What is so weird to me have always had my heat turned on by September 8 as the cool days and cold nights would pop up all of a sudden. Have not even put a call in you as i do NOT want even the thermostat on in this weather. If I am cold for a few days I think I will survive it. I never turn my own heater on - I know how but I make use of the gas company's service to turn it on AND check it to make sure it is operating correctly - free of charge.

Got a load of clothes in the washer as I did not get it all done yesterday morning. Then to wait for the dryer repair person - nope, rarely use the dryer unless the weather dictates I do but it would not turn off. Still dries just fine but it will not shut down on it's own like it is suppose to - am afraid of a fire from overheating or something. Always something. Poor repair person as my dryer is in my carport and it will be hot out there.

Hope all have a great day and of course have a couple of those portable coolers so will leave some ice cream - what else?

Re: SEPTEMBER 2015 - Back Fence

It looks like we just might get some rain.  The front yard  has big cracks in the clay soil.    Hard to believe after all the rain we got earlier this year.  The humidity seems to have lessened.    I had a minears attack Wednesday which kinda looped me out for awhile.  I thought oh no my hearing aids are going to fight me but when I thought back I knew I was my own culprit.   When were in Costco the other day we bought a big bag of bridge mix.   It was so good and had lots of those garlic toast things in it.  Every time I walked by the bag, I'd just take a handful and I walked by it a lot.   I have to be really careful with salt and I was definitely overloading on it.  I know better but once in a while you just get a brain fart     McDuff, I worked with someone like your buddy once. What a pain.  Here's hoping we all get cooler weather and Freddie I hope you'll find the need to call them to turn your heater on

Re: SEPTEMBER 2015 - Back Fence

Hi everyone.......sorry for not posting sooner but things have been hectic around here.   My sis MIL passed away and I was involved with arrangements.  Then DH needed to go to the ER and what they thought was a stroke turned out ot be Vertigo.  Have been running back and forth to eye doctor scheduling my cataract surgeries.  DH has to have the same surgeries.   Then I could not get into this thread and then I had trouble with getting into the entire site......kept freezing up my puter.

I hope that everyone is doing well as I have not read all that I have missed.

I am looking forward to Fall and some much cooler weather.  We have been in the mid 90's  for some time now and finally after some much needed rain it cooled down somewhat.  Thank goodness the humidity is a lot lower also.

Have a great day everyone!

Freddie, enjoy your ice cream cones.  You need to do what you need to do to stay cool.  Plus, there has to be some kind of vitamin D or calcium in ice cream right?  I hope the dryer person came by to figure out what's going on.  I wonder if it's your timer.  Then again, the unit is outside and could have melted down a little in the heat you are having.

Betty, I sit by huge windows and just turned around from my computer and see it rained here (lol).  I am sorry that you had a meniere's attack.  That's gotta be frightening when the world starts spinning.

Luvsbulldogs, I missed seeing your around.  I'm sorry that your sister's MIL passed.  It was nice of you to help with the arrangements.  Janey Mack!  Your DH has vertigo issues too.  You know everytime I turn around I am hearing about someone with vertigo or meniere's.  I wonder what is causing all the cases.  They seem to come on people out of the blue  - scarey.

birdmama............good to be back.  Helping with the arrangements was the least I could do.  One feels like their hands are tied in such sad situations.  DH's vertigo came as you said out of no where and now they claim it will return.  Our friend is a physical therapist and she taught DH how to get rid of it if it happens again.  If not he will go and see her at work.  She claims they now can take care of it in one or two sessions.  I too would love to know where it comes from.  They did tell us both to have a Life Line Screening test when it comes to our area to have our necks checked to see if there are any blockages.  Fortunately they are in our area next Wed. so we signed up for a screening.  Insurance does not pay for it so we have to have it done on our own and pay out of pocket.   They seem to feel that if the blood flow to the brain and head is not good then you can get Vertigo feelings from it.  They say to play it safe and be checked.

Re: SEPTEMBER 2015 - Back Fence

luvsbulldogs - are you saying your doctors didn't do any screening of the carotid (usually do ultrasounds) when DH presented in the E/R?  For God's sake, what the hell did they do to rule out stroke?  This is why I can't stand doctors.

Re: SEPTEMBER 2015 - Back Fence

Luvs, so sorry to hear about your MIL. Also hope your DH gets some relief - Medical visits this day and time can be stressful. Getting some MDs to check everything and DO everything necessary for good results to me is often trying and non existent. My MD will not run certain tests. Like him giving me anti depressant pills for excruciating pain in my legs when asleep sometimes. Needless to say I refused to take those meds and he got really angry with me and reminded me HE was the MD, not ME. He would not budge nor run any type of scan at all. I told him I knew if I was depressed or not and while going to sleep really easy and then having the pain - not often but enough to bother me and I have a super high tolerance of pain and these pains are miserable. I do not give up easy and will get that scan. About two years ago I had scans done by Lifeline - which I paid for - and then took the results to my MD. He then ordered a scan with my medical providers. By the way this was the arterial scan in the legs - those results showed a partial blockage in my left leg - same leg I am having the occasional pain in now. Like I said, I WILL get it done!!

Suppose to be about 10 degrees cooler (pardon the expression, LOL) today than what we have been having and the following days the temps will keep dropping. Of course they will shoot back up as I do not believe this excessive heat is ready to disappear. Actually the drop is predicted to go down to a high of 68 next week and then daily starts climbing back up. Last day of temps estimated are next Thursday where the experts say it will be 80. We shall see.

Hey, am leaving some blueberry bagels again - of course will also leave some cream cheese. Sounds good to me.

Have a great day!!!

Re: SEPTEMBER 2015 - Back Fence

The carotid scan doesn't always give the answer but you have to have a starting point. Mine came out fine but opthomologist thinks I had TIAs in my eye   My dizzy stuff is inner ear.  Usually no warning.  Just bam, whirling and hurling.  Interested to see how you get the scan, Freddie. And even more importantly what they do about the results.  We are getting a few sprinkles.  Not enough to do much good but enough you can't mow the grass unless you want to carry an umbrella
