@Equuleus Saying prayers for your daughter.  Life can be scary for everyone at some point in their lives, we just have to keep moving forward and have faith that we will be OK.

I know how difficult it is for Moms who feel helpless at time and would gladly take on the pain that their children are dealing with.   If you have overcome difficult times, share with her - many times we think our parents have always been totally in control and it might show her that things will get better.

Try to get her home for Christmas, and let her know that she is always welcome and wanted in your home.  I might suggest that you work with her to devise some sort of a plan, maybe job training, or if only to make appointments for unemployment services and/or pay, or for whatever services and programs she may be eligible for.   The uncertainty in her life can be scary and make you feel helpless.....try to get a plan in place that she can use and focus on to keep moving forward.

Thank you is such a small word, but it comes from a huge place.  I am beaming right now (and crying).  As I said I gave my daughter a couple days to think about all the things I told her about having hope.  Today she called to tell me she had her first journal published.  She was part of a small group that participated in a study and wrote a journal and it's being published.  She is soooooooooooo happy.  I told her we can work through this and it's when things look darkest a light will start to shine but only if she keeps hope.  I was really, really worried about her.  I truly believe you were all part of it, so I wanted to share.  She has agreed to come over tomorrow night and we are going to celebrate her accomplishment.  I couldn't be more thankful.  We still have the job issue to tackle but this news has given her back the spirit.  AND she told me "Mom, you said it and you were right ... always have hope.  Thank you for reminding me."

@Equuleus,   I'm just now back to the forums and reading through your thread, and seeing this update...   I have tears in my eyes, too.    You sound like a wonderful mom, and I'll bet your daughter is a lovely, dear and dazzling reflection of you.   Your posts and all the other responses represent the spirit of the holiday season, goodwill toward others, compassion, humanity, and giving the gift of time and tender hearts to be someone else's angel when they're faltering and need encouragement and hope.    I will keep you and your family in my prayers.   May the joy of the season be with you and those you love.   (((hugs)))

~❤️~
