Lady ran a stop sign and . . .

[ Edited ]

sent my car airborne on Dec. 26th. I have compression fractures in my back and am confined to a back brace. Feeling like a turtle, but grateful for the support it provides.

My family was vacationing in Orlando at the time. A friend came to the hospital and helped pick up the pain pills before taking me home. Riding in her Honda was miserable! I felt every crack in the streets. Smiley Happy  And, she has an expensive model Honda and I had been given a pain pill before leaving!

Anyway, the end of 2018 has been spend in bed, talking with insurance companies, getting to the bathroom, fixing easy meals, doing laundry (forgot how heavy wet towels are), and walking up and down the stairs several times daily and to the mailbox (that's the extent of my exercise). The pain pills? Took one the first day home. Didn't like it. Haven't touched them since. Feel better in a warm bed with down comforters and lots of sleep for healthy recovery.

Go to an Ortho Surgeon on Jan. 7th to find out how I'm healing. So far, I'm wearing this brace almost 24/7. Without it, I'm in pure pain and cannot sit, stand or do anything. It's my lifeline!

Both vehicles were totaled. The other driver was ticketed. She told the Police, "I don't know what happened." Made me laugh out load when I read the police report. She's about 60; not a kid. Her big black SUV was going like a bat out of hell and nailed my mid-sized car. The landing probably is what broke my back. Airbags went off and I didn't see what happened, but landed in a neighbor's side yard of the intersection. Big commotion.

Great witnesses! Super people who helped me before the EMT's arrived. Fellt so relieved and assured. The other driver was not hurt, but her SUV was also totaled.

Haven't felt like "talking" on-line. Close friends in Lincoln have removed the plates, registration and my personal belongings from my car. My son and his family are back from Orlando . . . and he already has a new car selected for me. (It does help to be in the new car/truck business.)

Sad to see a wonderful vehicle suddenly ready for salvage. Seems such a waste.

Hope everyone enjoys a SAFE and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

@BirkiLady  Oh my, compression fractures.  Sorry to hear of your pain and wishing for a quick recovery for you.  My granddaugher also wearing back brace due to collision with a deer. I have back issues so I can relate to your pain and inconvenience.  Can't imagine taking a load of wet towels out of the washer.  Don't overdo and please keep us informed and take care of yourself.

I'm shocked and appalled to hear of your misfortune.  What a miserable vacation you had!  So you're still in Orlando?  I bet you're anxious to get home.  I certainly hope you don't have a permanent disability as a result of some fool's poor driving.  We certainly will be thinking of you and hoping for the best.  You'll undoubtedly have some uncomfortsble PT ahead of you.  Fingers crossed for the best outcome.

Wishing you the best.  Long story short, had a similar accident 6 years ago, totally the other person's fault.  Their insurance company admitted complete responsiblity.  We trusted them and ended up short.

Keep records of everything, and get a lawyer.  We would have been in much better shape had we done that.

Good luck and speedy recovery.
