The one in my area never really got its clientele back after lockdown so it has suffered in quality.

The Red Robin near us is very nice I love the whiskey River bbq chicken wrap and the onion rings
I agree if the floor is dirty I wouldn’t want to eat there

I think the initial appeal of chain restaurants is that a customer could expect consistency from one location to another. I think many of the struggling restaurants are struggling because that consistency is gone. I don't think Red Robin is a chain that keeps a tight rein on their franchises. Some locations are very good and popular and some not so much.

The last time I went to Red Robin was around 10 years ago in San Antonio.  The one we went to always had great food and service.  I miss that restaurant.  Smiley Sad

We have a RR very close to us and DD loves burgers so we are there often.  It is always clean and most of the servers are wonderful and the food is very good.

A lot depends on the manager for what the place looks like, how the  employees are, etc.  Some are willing to spend the payroll for things to be clean and have servers; others don't want to waste the payroll so their numbers look good and you end up with a dirty restaurant and no servers so the ones you do have are busy doing everything.

I can't remember when I even ate at a franchise restaurant.

The Red Robin restaurant here is outstanding.  I love the burgers, and towering onion rings with campfire sauce, but my very best favorite there is the fish platter. It is delicious every time.

Excellent.
