For those who think they will never need or want a smart phone....

I added my 83 year old mother to my plan (got the phone for free).  Showed her how to text, take pictures etc.   She lives being able to take pictures at events, is always texting her friends, children, grandchildren , even gets notifications of weather alerts and community reminders.  Oddly enough she has trouble making phone calls  so wouldn't totally disregard a smart phone.

@CrazyDaisy Can your mother pleeeease come over and teach my 81 year old mother in law.  LOL

She refusing to attempt any technology.  She just had to get a new Flip Phone which ATT sent her for free becuase it was 2G which will be obsolete in February.  I had a call every day for 10 days telling me the phone wasn't working (mind you most of these calls were made on the cell phone that wasn't working).  All of her friends use Smart Phones I wish she would just try but them I imagine I would get a call every single day saying it wasn't working.

Get the Tracfone LG Classic Flip, here on QVC. E234310. It comes with a year of 1200 minutes, which is a great price as just the 1200 minutes for one year are $100, without the phone. After 1200 minutes are used or 1 year is up, whichever comes first, you can buy a $19.99/ 90 day airtime which will give you 180 minutes on this phone for 90 days as it is a triple minutes phone. That averages about $6.67 cents per month.

I purchased 2 for my 80 year old parents. They are LG, but just because LG is not making phones anymore, it does not matter because Tracfone still provides the service to the phone, so no,worries there.

And yes, they are triple minutes phones, so you can purchase the basic airtime cards instead of the smartphone cards and triple the minutes on the cards.

It is a good phone, with an emergency SOS key, and other great features AND the same phone on HSN is $62.09 and free shipping, here on QVC $69.20 and $5.50 shipping, so HSN saves you $12.50 per phone. Item 728-433 on HSN. AND it's 4G so it will not be obsolete for a while.

Re: Question about cell phone

Saying you don't need a smart phone is like saying you don't need a stove because you can make a fire in your backyard and cook over that.
