Focus groups are small.  This small group of posters represents a much larger picture. It is valuable. @Tori3569

Re: QVC Earnings for 3Q released....

Many older who post here say how great QVC was way back and would like to go back to that time when the hosts were cookie cutter boring and collectibles and all those decorating shows not a real money maker now.  The fact is the older customers are dying off or will eventually and any business that does not look to the future and go after younger customers is surely doomed.  It seems that moving away from the conservative clothing styles and items that younger generations do not want and which probably were not selling as well now because of a more relaxed dress style and younger people not buying all that jewelry and stuff sold here back then , a change was necessary to  maintain sales.  I know I never purchased clothing here due to the conservative choices here but when a more modern relaxed type of clothing was introduced. I now order a lot of clothes.

Just do not understand why a few here seem to care and relish in sales being down!  It's not my company and I have no stock in it so what?!!!   Right now most  businesses comparable in size and actually most businesses are probably not showing much profit!   So what if they go under?  I would miss shopping here but there are other places to shop online!!

@Pook  - What a heartless post!  I hate to see any business go under!  I enjoy shopping here, but what about people losing jobs?  So what if they go under??  Wow.

@chrystaltree I care because when the economy flags it affects ALL of our finances.   It leads to higher interest rates and inflation, all symptoms of failing economy and cutting back or raising taxes.

@Sooner  -  It's sad when some don't care about our economy.

Re: QVC Earnings for 3Q released....

Ironic that the same people who yell "Make it and do it over here in the USA" will then say "they don't care" if an American business goes under...

Now that doesn't mean that businesses will not or should not evolve if they don't have some super niche product that can only be purchased there...you can not stay in business if you're not solvent, no matter where you are....

Nature abhors a vacuum....IF QVC goes belly up, something else will come along, maybe better!!

QVC is like a tired old salmon, looking at the miles of rapids still ahead, and trying everything to make it....swimming against the current of change ..and a hungry bear is watching on the shore....

I will enjoy it while I can. I buy very few items from QVC nowadays, not because of cost , but due to getting rid of "stuff", and since I'm retired, no longer needing clothes, jewels, gimmicky hair products, etc....

Society changes are going to take the most toll I think...the young don't want "stuff" all over, don't want thier parents "stuff" and "valuable" collections and whatever, and choose tattooes over jewelry...

So things change.

If they didn't, we'd still be pottying in the woods, bathing in the stream, or drooling over the primitive smell of roasting meat on an outdoor fire..... waiting for something we killed, gutted and skinned.to get done..

I hope that the smug "I don't care" doesn't own this in her mutual fund, pension and/or retirement account holdings.

@cjm61 @Whenever I go to Zulily it wants me to sign in before I can see what's on it. I can't tell you how many times I just left the site because I don't know my login info in my head and I'm not in the mood to get to it. Just taking the stupid sign in first, just to browse the site, would help them. Zulily needs some advertising too. They could do with some YouTubers that plug the site and ads on QVC. They could also advertise on podcasts, they would bring in plenty of younger customers that have not heard about it. They are doing so little to promote Zulily it isn't even funny. They should be sending email promos from it to past customers with holiday promos. With inflation, many are tightening their belts. Places have to promote, especially if money saving sites can offer discounts for gifts.

We're forgetting one thing. Many people don't watch network TV anymore. They just stream the shows they want, live or on demand. I'm pretty sure this must be having an effect on sales too. When I watch QVC now, it's usually online on the website. I used to watch it on TV. The way we watch has changed for many of us. Potential new customers might not even know about QVC because of how they watch.

As for me, I over bought clothing up until last quarter. I had gone up a size and was worried I needed clothing that fit me. I had nowhere to go due to the pandemic, so I'm set for both my current and previous sizes. Due to inflation and now, much less need for clothing, my money has been going for necessities from CVS and Amazon and for groceries and dinner deliveries.

Re: QVC Earnings for 3Q released....

They lost site of quality. I return as much as I buy now.

sizing is off, products faulty.

how many pairs of pajamas can one person wear even if they can wear them to present a case in court.

I don't turn on the tv to see adults in pj's screaming and yelling at me. I want to hear the details of the products being sold so that I can make a decision.

------not happy to see a company fail, but someone should take a look at what works and what doesn''t.

@manny2  Bingo. And I would add that when SO MANY posters are offering the same feedback and especially when they have been doing so OVER A SIGNIFICANT PERIOD OF TIME, it's worth listenting. Wonderful that some remain so very satisfied with Qurate, but these numbers indicate perhaps they're not representative of the bigger picture.
