@I am still oxox are your Menorahs passed down, or new. I have a friend who has one over 125 years old I think. Not good, but has enameling and lots of etching. I love to see different kinds of Menorahs, so beautiful and interesting. Especially some of the history.
@shoekitty One is new, mine which replaced one I bought at a bargain store and my husbnads was his growing up

My husband passed in 2024 and Christmas was his favorite. My heart is not always in it but I start in and start remembering the good things and it changes for me then. I do it for him so I am hoping he can see that I am ok. The grandkids would be so disappointed if I didn't make it special for them as always.
I have no problem taking down and I replace with snowmen decorations that we collected. I leave the lights on the mantle and a few other touches and put things away in stages. By the end of January all is tucked in until next go round.
I have simplified things a little and so that has made it easier and more enjoyable for me.
Doesn't matter how long you keep things up. Just try and enjoy. Let the good memories flow in.

If you like it have your tree up year round, by all means do so!
Especially if it brings happy memories along with it.❤️

@juanitalinda Wow, that is so "Christmasy"! If that doesn't get you in the holiday spirit, nothing will. Congrats, it looks fantastic!

You all have some beautiful photos!
We do less now but 25 years ago as my husband and I were freezing out putting up lights the week before Thanksgiving, to come home to them after an out of town trip, I said to him IF they aren't up 2 weeks before Thanksgiving we are not putting them up.
That has been the rule here and we love having it done to enjoy the holiday. A lot of others around here do it too and have been up and running for at least a week. We saw others today putting them up. And fortunately there are lots of good people to hire too!
Happy decorating to all! And may your lights burn brightly every string!

Our 2 indoor trees will go up before Thanksgiving company. Beside those, I really don't have space for anything else. I do like red roses (the only time I like red roses) on tables.
We keep it simple outdoors. Red lights on garland going down our arched stairs out front. Green lights on Cypress trees flanking stairs.
We keep the green lights up after the holidays as do many here to show support for our football team Go Birds.
Many here have lights up year round, on decks, wrapped around trees and their docks, but mostly white/clear lights. We do, too.

@Meowingkitty For as fast as time seems to fly by now, I think you are right. Each to his own I say, and we have Christmas tunes on many radio stations now. Love the season!!

@UpNorthGorgy My goodness, this woman needs to begin writing her autobiography. We need to celebrate this woman. She's proved that we're smarter, stronger and braver than we're often given credit for. And, we can still have a little fun while we're at it.
Sounds like the teacher role comes out with everyone. That's probably why she's a little bossy. She clearly has a lot she wants to teach, or share, with everyone. A great knowledgeable travel companion, for sure.
How wonderful that you ran into each other in your travels. She's added to fond memories. Her story needs to go on. Tell her she needs to write the book.

@BlueFinch Thank you for your post. I know she is still and always Marine and retired as a Colonel. She has lilac colored hair and helped me find her in a crowd. I didn't mind her bossy way as learned alot from her traveling. I live in a small town. I wanted here to sit down and could the countries she visited. Last Fall went to Kazakhstan and two others.
I know she loved former TX. Govenor Ann Richard. There was a PBS play about her in office about 8 years ago I saw. She was quite the woman also.
