Keep the coat.  It sounds stunning and everyone needs a nice dress coat.  Because....you never know.   Also, even if you do have a casual life, it might be fun to wear the coat and go on a date night with your husband.  I like clothes and sometimes, I invent an occasion to wear something special.

Purging correctly is tough! I just moved/downsized and donated tons of clothing from all 4 seasons. Now I find that some of the things I gave away or donated would come in very handy right now. Anyway, coats are a big ticket item and you don't want to have to replace it when you want it again.

And you know what. Sometimes when you go out, you see a dress, top or outfit that someone is wearing, that really catches your eye. And you think the extra effort really paid off.

I admire you! You actually downsized. That is what I was doing this afternoon. I was really on a roll and getting rid of stuff, that I hung onto for too long. Sorry to hear that you could use some of the items that you gave away.

I have taken over 2 bedroom closets and I really want to scale back. I admire you for actually doing it. I get rid of stuff but don't seem to notice a huge difference. Guess I have to keep plugging away.

The coat is already back in the closet. And it was alot easier getting it back in.
