I was the Design Director for a small magaizne. I am not the greatest typist so all of the editors changes needed to be proofed by a third party

None of us is perfect but,  at least, we can TRY to remember to use Spellchecker and to review our own posts for typos and other errors. Some regular posters here seem never to do that. It is just plain sloppy and indicates self-involvement and a lack of regard or care for the reader. You know who you are!

@Q-Checker  There are some that might have disabilities hindering their ability to  write. I would suggest people don't read these "sloppy" posts if it bothers them.

@shoekitty I well understand that learning disabilities may impact the ability to send correctly spelled posts. However, although not flawless in its implementation, the simple use of the provided spellchecker would go a long way to clarifying some of the posts.

I re- read what I type--most timesWoman Tongue---I like making sure I use words right--but on my phone--holy cow--my texts/ emails can get pretty wonky--most times I have to laugh at what my"smart" phone  thinks I meant--but can be annoying too. Had a friend who just got thru planting her garden --she listed she planted beers that day---what??? I asked what brand she planted----she planted beets---we laughed pretty hard over that.

Sometimes when our local news is on and they have those banners at the bottom of the screen - which is another pet peeve - occasionally there will be a typo. I think really! Doesn't someone proof them before they go on TV?

@wagirl And that was the spirit of my post, no pun intended, or maybe it was, LOL.  I love stuff like that.  I still laugh at the near miss my phone's auto-correct almost caused in a text to my neighbor.  I was trying to tell her there was a package on her porch and it was starting to rain, so I didn't want it to get wet.  I knew she was home since her garage door was up and the car was there.  Autocorrect kept changing pkg to pig.  So, I almost sent her a text that said "There's a pig on your porch and it's raining".

@Icegoddess

I reread whatever I've written at least twice anymore, but I swear I think that autocorrect makes changes after I hit 'send'!  😳😂

@wagirl oh boy does it ever!!  Auto correct has displayed with some doozies on my phone. Complete with cuss words I haven't used since the 70's. lol!  iPhone is worse for auto correct blunders,my iPad is worse for stubborness. I disabled spellcheck, because we had hand to hand combat over words I needed spelled a certain way, or a name.  No way, iPad changes it over and over.  Sometimes I literally have to choose another word. I disabled it, but every update it gets worse.  Also, the spell check on this forum is not compatable with my iPad or something. If I correct a word after I am done, all the words in the sentence fuse together .mthen I spend all my time separating them.  It's awful, can explain, but more trouble to fix than looking like an idiot lol

@Icegoddess, I'm interested if there were any follow-up post on Nextdoor.

Any new incidents? Any advice offered?
