Now it is back on. What makes it newsworthy? Back here in the woods w/o a Generac our freezers or fridges do not run. No pump-no toilet flushing-you get the idea.

@Group 5 minus 1

We live in Hurricane country and while we do have a gas powered generator, it's not much good if the gas pumps aren't working.

Then we rely on ice pack filled coolers for the frozen meats, we don't worry about other frozen items that won't fit in.

We even use the washer to store some miscellaneous frozen items with ice packs. We use the bathtub too!

These days meat is an investment!

Ours was off 4-1/2 days about three weeks ago so I feel your pain.  However, the toilets flushed.  Lost several freezer items and everything in the fridge.

We were luckier than many of our neighbors and friends. Thankfully my sister had a generator.

I don't know how much generators are but is it something you want to consider?

Our Generac is propane powered.

We live in an area that can receive massive amounts of snow storms/blizzards.  We invested in a whole house natural gas powered generator.  It gives such peace of mind it is worth the cost.

filling milk jugs with water and freezing them is a plan ahead of power outages, it does work well in a cooler

@Meadowgirl What brand and model do you have and how long have you had it? I have been thinking about a generator.

The brand name of our generator is Cummins.  We have had it for 5 years.
