When I move _ should I tip the lady who will clean the
apartment I am moving from?
It will be Empty. It is a small one bedroom.
The estimate is $85 to clean it including three windows, spot clean carpet.
Thank you!

I am not big on tipping. If you feel you are paying a fair price, then pay her the amount agreed on....it's really up to you.

I would not tip her. She set the price, and that's what she expects. It's not necessary to tip a house cleaner.

Thank you so much for your messages. I am spending so much money as it is for this move I was hoping tipping is not required!

If she working for an agency then she just gets a cut of $85. If she is working for herself then the agreed to price should be fine.

No agency involved. Just her
Thank you!!

If the cleaner is a private hire, I would not tip - my total payment is already going to the worker.
If the cleaner comes from a company, the cleaner "loses" a sigificant portion and I would add a small tip, most likely 10%.

Once and a while I hire a service to clean my mother's house. I usually tip $10 per person. I factor in they cleaned more than expected and/or they really did a good job. I don't consider a tip a must. I think man they saved me a ton of time and it was a good job. If they didn't do it, I'd have to.

@OhioAngelI have tipped in the past depending on the job. When we were moving I normally did not tip because there was a team of people working. However, when I had my home cleaned and if it was only one person I would tip based on how satisfied I was with the job.

There are some service workers that you always tip, it's just a given. Housekeepers and cleaning ladies are in that category. It doesn't matter how small or large the job is. I'd give her a 15% tip. At $85 for the job, I'd just round up to $100. Having said that, tipping is voluntary. If you don't want to tip, don't tip.
