Pick any year..............

[ Edited ]

Rather than the year you were born, pick a year you liked and name the #1 Record, #1 Movie, #1 _____________________(whatever).  ie:  hemlines, or  ???  or how about a headline from that year.  Just for fun.

I think I'll go back and pick a good year.  Just to see how different or even the same things changed or remained the same.

1963: song was Blue Velvet, Bobby Vinton

The trend was the mini skirt

headline: about President Kennedy being shot

Re: Pick any year..............

1970.

#1 song was Bridge over Troubled Water, other top hits were from The Beatles, Neil Diamond, Sly and the Family Stone, Guess Who, etc.

#1 movie. There were a few top money makers:  MASH, Love Story, They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?

Hemlines were very short. And that’s how I wore them!

Headlines:  Apollo 13, The Beatles split up, the US invaded Cambodia.

The average age cost of a house was $23,000, and the average income was $9,400.

My first year of college, at a private liberal arts in the Midwest, was $4,000.

I can’t wait to read more answers. Great idea, @qualitygal.

1987. My family was well and all together, and my team the New York Giants won their 1st super bowl. I was over the moon. Whitney Houston and Micheal Jackson had popular albums and Prozac was introduced in the US. And JMO fashions were ugly .

1984

I believe Prince was the first artist to have the number one movie, soundtrack, and song all in the same week for Purple Rain.  It changed my life.

My sisters and I also saw Ghostbusters along with everyone else about 5 times in the movie theater because in those days you'd never see it again until years later when it finally hit tv.

I won't talk about how bright we were all dressed or how high our hair was but I think there is a reason 80s fashion has still not made a real comeback.  Smiley Wink

Mini skirts were not popular in 1963.  I know because that's the year I graduated from high school.  We wore strait skirts and sweater sets, short puffy hair.  Mini skirts were popular in 1971.  I wore those then.  I am not trying to be rude but I was there.

@luvmybeetle, I was there too, but that's what came up on what I was checking on for that year.  I'd believe you, I can't begin to remember.  LOL Just went back and got to see some of the fashion of that time. You're right, the pictures I saw, were knee length and just under. Thanks.
