I get what you're saying and I too are very very fair but I have little opportunity to dress up anymore.  The last time I wore panty hose was to a family wedding about 2 yrs ago.I put my finger through the first pair I tried to put on, second pair went on OK but ran before I got to church LOL  No more, maxi skirts and flats is all I'll wear now.

I don't think I remember how to put them on.  I have such cute outfits hanging in my closet I haven't worn in a long time.  Much too soon though to get rid of.  I still can fit into them but it sure would give me more space in my closet if I did.

Yeeeeessss!  Two staples of my earlier working life!  I remember my sister bought me my first pair of L'eggs and it was in an Easter basket!  I was like -- what the heck is this???  I thought it was fantastic!!!!!  I did work pantyhose the majority of my working career and I always had a bottle of clear nail polish in my desk drawer.  The women always came to me asking to borrow my polish!!!

Oh, this took me into the "wayback machine." 

When I started working, pantyhose had just appeared on the scene.  I can remember seeing rows and rows of the L'eggs in all the stores.  They seemed like a luxury then.

One afternoon, when walking out for lunch (I worked in downtown St. Louis), it was a very windy day.  A young woman just ahead of me was struggling to keep her skirt down when a gust of wind finally won.  Up it went to reveal a bare bottom underneath her pantyhose.

She turned to me and we both just laughed and laughed.

I loved those little egg packages and had tons of them stashed at home and at work!

I remember this too. Fortunately I never had a job that required a dress and panty hose. I always wore pants. The few times I did have to wear them though I always put a hole in them. I just could not stand them. They would eventually start to fall down and I would pull them up. In summer they were hot.I never ever got more than one wear out of them and couldn't figure how women wore them more than once. I figured they had to spend tons of money every week just buying new ones.

@ECBGYep, those were my favorite pantyhose, and I always had an emergency clear nail polish in my purse for those pesky runs in my panryhose !!!

OMG, I remember when L'Eggs first came out - finally affordable hose! If I remember correctly, the L'Eggs delivery staff were all women. I rarely wear pantyhose now that I'm retired. I don't always feel comfortable going bare legged, but have taken to wearing thigh-highs with dresses instead. On rare occasions, I'll wear pantyhose if I need them for a smoothing effect.

Girl, did you know hairspray will help?  Not as good of course!  Panty hose kept me from freezing to death at times.
