We stay home, have for years now... Hubby usually grills steaks, and we rent a movie!

This is what we'll do @CANDLEQUEEN. We may or may not have the grandkids (9 and 11) with us.

@San Antonio GalWe will have our granddaughters ages 10 and 6 from Dec 27-30th...They live about 2 hours from us! I look forward to this time every year, although we see them often, its just so much more fun when they stay a while!

Re: On a lighter note-New Year's Eve

We always celebrate New Year's Eve with our kids. When they were younger, we had an in-home scavenger hunt, Shirley Temple cocktails and lots of junk food. A big family hug at midnight. The kids would go to bed after we watched the ball drop. Ah, the sweet memories! Now that our kids are older, they still spend New Year's Eve with us. Good food, fattening desserts and a glass or two of wine AND the traditional family hug at midnight. So thankful for the gift of family.

Forgot to add- This year, my hubby organized Eve of New Year's Eve party (we are hosting) with college pals and spouses. About 20 people. It will be a busy weekend. Thankfully, he pitches in with the cleaning and cooking. You're all invited, come on over!

I'll be in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl.  Roll Tide.

I'm having my card group over NYE.

My brother is also in the group and was told a month ago that he had 90 days to live. He asked if we could play one more time. Of course I said yes! I'd do anything for him.

Well, this is first New Year's granddaughters are old enough and requesting to stay up for the TV concerts, etc.

We'll need to censor the channels that have featured the hosts drinking too much from tops in NY. Anyone seeing this each year?

They put in an "order " for steaks on the grill, twice baked potatoes and chocolate cake.

I bet they don't make it up as late as they think. They're all planning to stay over night.

The only drunk NYE hosts I've seen are Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper.  Andy Cohen isn't exactly appropriate for the youngsters when he's sober.  Wouldn't they be more interested in the Ryan Seacrest broadcast anyway?
