Re: OMG!!! ROOF LEAK/WATER DAMAGE

@Shanus   Wow, what a mess.  I am glad your insurance lawyer did such a good job standing up for your rights...Like you, I'd be obsessing about the mess and lack of organization.

Makes you wonder about the reputable company that did the initial job....

@Shanus

Yep, we had plastic barriers.  The dust even got past sliding closet doors and then into the cedar closet set at the back of the sliding closet doors.  When I checked DH's suits, I had to brush them and then wipe down the hangers.

For months after the work is done, don't be surprised to find a fine dust accumulating on stuff frequently.  I think it gets blown out from wall and ceiling crevices over time.

Re: OMG!!! ROOF LEAK/WATER DAMAGE

@Shanus  I am  so sorry you are going through this🙁. I just can not imagine.

Did the roofing company ever say why they would not be responsible for the shoddy work? I would think they would go out of business as no one would ever use them? That is just so terrible they did not stand by their work.

Re: OMG!!! ROOF LEAK/WATER DAMAGE

@Shanus , nooooo!  What a nightmare!  Do you have to live in the house during the reconstruction ?  I am sending you a cyber hug as I hate to have my home disrupted and I hate clutter.  Silver lining is the finished product.

Best wishes, keep us updated.  Do some before and after photos.  LM

Re: OMG!!! ROOF LEAK/WATER DAMAGE

@Kachina624   I think there were areas around the second story dormers that were not sealed properly. It took several hard rains...one a near hurricane....for the leaks to show themselves to this degree. We never noticed anything until we started seeing water spots on the ceilings and some paint popping off the around the ceiling molding on the 1st floor.

If it wasn't going to be the estimated 4 wks. of construction, I'm sure a hotel stay would be offered, but I prefer to be here to make sure house is locked up tight during lunch breaks, etc.

At least Molly's daycare is being covered. We'd rather her be safe from getting out of the gates as the workers come and go with necessary equipment. It's going to be a nightmare, all right.

@ECBG   That's a sweet offer. I'll need the vacay AFTER they finish and I take a month to put everything away that's packed up. 😜

@Mom2Dogs   Not because of what happened to my house, but maybe to others + the pandemic, they're out of business. I never wish harm on anyone, but I'm happy no one else will suffer from their shoddy work.

@1Snickers   It's been a nightmare for quite awhile because we couldn't get them to come back to repair the roof. As each rain came, there's been a lot of rain, we watched water trickle down around light fixtures over my tub, cooktop hood and don't even think about what was happening upstairs!!!

I'm happy my studio has a separate entrance and bath and that's where I'll plant myself. The studio itself had minor damage, but that bath did suffer leaks and will be peeled back, sprayed for mold and repaired. OMG!!
