Thank you, @ChynnaBlue

I followed your directions.   Now, the issue is that I am moved one full page ahead of where I last read a post.  For example, if I stop reading after the first post on page 2 of a 3-page subject, when I re-open the subject, it opens at the top of page 3, not on the second post on page 2.

I wonder if it might be a Safari issue?  Obviously, I am no techie.  Ha ha.

Regardless, this is no biggie; rather, a slight nuisance in the total cosmic scheme . . .

Thanks again.

Hi, @GATORGIRL!   I have an idea of what you're asking and I think this is the answer.   (This isn't browser-specific.)

Even though the settings specify "last post" the software really can only know the last page you read...  if I go to page 2, the website software can't know if I read only one post on that page or all of them.    As a result, the next time I go to the thread I might be routed to the following page.    There  are slight variations on this, depending upon how many posts were on the page when we read it...  it's only designed to approximate a return to the last post read.    You'll notice in @ChynnaBlue's image the settings allow you to change the "Posts per page when viewing a topic."   If you make this a smaller number, when you return to a thread you'll come closer to landing on the last actual post you read.

I hope that makes sense!   If not, keep asking.   As you can tell by the wonderful help @jaxs mom, @qualitygal, @Keyai, and @ChynnaBlue posted, we have some great people here, and together we can figure it out!

Yes, great explanation, @dooBdoo. The software just can't get to the post level and really goes by page.
