We live in a small plan with 140 homes and over 100 dogs!! The yards are very small and they all walk the dogs instead of taking them in their own yards. My DH has taken many photos of neighbors dogs peeing on our car or golfcart, or in the middle of the yard or on our newly painted house. He sends them to the HOA - nothing is done. We have decided to move.

Many years ago when I lived in an apartment my neighbor was outside with his little son and they were peeing on a tree in the yard.I asked him what he was doing and he said he was teaching his son to pee outside. Go figure.

@151949  Good luck finding a retirement community or subdivision that doesn't allow dogs.  IMHO roaming cats are even worse and cause more damage than dogs.  Thankfully my town applies the same leash laws to both dogs and cats.

Some communities have dog walk areas and enforce the rule to use it.And also don't allow behavior like people putting  beds in the garage for their grandkids to sleep out there.(my current neighborhood) or mattress in the driveway to sunbathe.

Does the garage have a garage door? I don't see a problem with it, if it's like an enclosed room. Is it an air/inflatable mattress instead of a bed mattress?

This is Florida - the garage is not air conditioned so , of course, they have the garage door OPEN. That doesn't even taske into account things like wandering critters - armadillos, alligators, coyotes and cougars. All common at night in Florida.

The mattress is a large size aerobed and the couple are in their 80's sunning them selves in a bikini and a speedo. Hurts the eyes!

When one buys a home in a gated community and pays HOA fees then you expect a certain level of decorum to be maintained. On one hand we were told we could not park our golf cart out side in public view - but then someone else uses their garage as a bedroom. Another neighbor has a TV and a computer on the wall in his garage and a dining room set out there , plus a recliner and he is out there all day , every day. One morning I came home from taking someone to the airport at 6AM and he was out there watching TV and eating breakfast in his pajamas.

@151949 - Don't forget the snakes that wander on in to the garage! I've had several snakes and my garage door is closed!
