Would NOT do it.

What do you mean by "detailing"? Around here that's a lot to do with car every week which includes waxing, carpet and car seat cleaning. Plus steam cleaning some other things. But just for washing, vacuuming, windows and wheels I would say at least $25 in your driveway with your stuff.

I'd say $20, but now that I've read some of the other posts, and if O/P doesn't know this person, I'm having second thoughts.
Are there any self-service car washes nearby?
Well, whatever you decide, good luck. ![]()

What is losing your privacy worth? Do you get to choose what kind of music is played? Will this person bring friends or pets? Smoke cigars?
Don't do it. There are plenty of do-it-yourself carwashes around.

Does he want access to your bathroom, too?

Thanks for the input ladies....
... I have decided that it would just be a bad idea... a nice thing to do that could go horribly wrong ..... I am not going to do it....
have a great Sunday everyone!

Where I live there are many "do it yourself car washes".Want the outside Car Show Shiny? Keep stick more quarters, or whatever denomination into the pay chute.
Want inside car and under the hood Car Show Clean? You can buy all the gunk remover and other cleaners to make everything in the engine compartment look "off the factory line" clean.
I did exactly that, sometimes early in the morning, before driving to work. If my car had dust on it or it had rained on the way home? Got up earlier next morning and stopped there ti clean up my beautiful machines. No lines at 6am for "do it yourself car washes". I lived in an apartment most of this time.
Tell him what I just said. If he wants to really wants to clean and detail his vehicle? Can't imagine any city not having the facility I mentioned. I mean, I do live in Hick City!

@SeaMaiden Just read your decision not to do this and IMO it's the best one.

@hckynutjohn he mentioned that he wanted a quiet place to do it... so he could relax and not feel like he had to hurry... just enjoy it where at a car wash kind of place it is hectic an noisy... I can get that and understand that... he wants to enjoy doing it.

There 3 different car washes I could use. 2 of them were within 6 blocks to a nice quiet park. Lots of trees and very peaceful and quiet.
I detailed the inside of my cars on days I didn't work. The outside being clean was my goal. Why have a beautiful car to drive and not keep it looking sharp and clean?
Unless he lives in the middle of NYC, I can't imagine not being able to find a quite and peaceful location.
