Re: My chat with amazon

[ Edited ]

I am probably the minority but Amazon service is not what it used to be, and I dread, just dread calling them. First of all, they don't list phone number easy, I have to go online and research to get it. They want you to use chat, and that is a bust for me. I have no patience for it, and it takes longer than a call.  if I have to call them, it is too involved to type.  lol. Then much of the time I strain to listen to rep, or get bad connection.  Then agent parrots every word I say ....taking more time. Problem is always solved quick, it's the other stuff...I wish they would stop repeating word for word the conversation. I say a sentence, they repeat it. Geesh!    Geesh.  A year a go we needed many medical items like wheel chair, etc and plus everything else,  I spent enough to buy a small car.  I am cutting back this year, weaning myself.  It's just so handy to send items and gifts to grands kids.  Sigh. There is my whining sniveling carp for the hour.

I have been satisfied getting deliveries from both Target and Walmart who can be equal to or cheaper than Amazon. Especially with third party sellers.

@Etoile308  I don't shop Walmart, but I think I will try Target. I have insta cart as well and they do target.  As I remember target can ship fast too. Amazon prices aren't the lowest, they can be just convenient.  I need to shop locally more in my home town.

@wagirl

I also had a surprisingly wonderful chat with Amazon recently.  I had ordered an XXL dog crate, that was shipped by Petco.  Unfortunately Petco sent a medium large crate.

Petco wanted me to pay the return shipping, which was going to cost a fortune.

 Amazon customer service immediately refunded me the total cost of the crate and told me to keep it or give it to someone who could use it.    (They didn't want to pay for return shipping either.)

At any rate, I was so impressed that they made me whole .. and without any hassle.

@FancyPhillyshopper

I didn't think I would ever 'need' early delivery either, but it comes in handy.

Last summer a friend of my fell and needed someone to take care of her.    I packed up my stuff and took off as son as she called.  It wasn't until I got to her house that I discovered I had forgotten to change into my street clothes and was still wearing my bathing suit/coverup.

And I had not packed any undergarments.

Amazon delivered them the next morning by 6:00 am  .... just in time to get dressed and drive her to the hospital for surgery.

@shoekitty  I like shopping at Amazon and Target. I haven't had a shipping problem with either. Although, I have had a few delays with Amazon but it was not earth shattering. I recently received an order from Target and one producf was damaged. They sent me a replacement within 2 days. Also, Target gives you free shipping(over $35) and 5% discount  with their card on all items.

@stevieb   I can't think of a single way some of customers' expectations can be met.  How would you solve the problem?

So happy I rarely shop on Amazon, and there is nothing I would ever need for an "early delivery."

I am sure the shareholders would not be happy with all the giveaways and complaints, but Amazon is doing booming business because many Americans prefer not to leave their homes---or their couches.

@FancyPhillyshopper ..  I love Amazon.  I buy a lot from them.  The reason being is that most of the time they have good prices and a big variety.  With a Prime membership I get the item next day (but sometimes I opt for the longer delivery date because I don't need the item right away).

I'm far from a couch potatoe, but I hate going to a mall, drive around looking for a parking spot, walk another long distance just to get to the store you want, find out they don't have the item and then walk back to my car.

Returns are quick and easy.

And, don't worry about their shareholders, they are doing quite well.

It's very rare that an Amazon order doesn't arrive on time or even early and I don't pay for early delivery.

This winter has been rough in many areas of the country. Record snow, storms, blizzards, winds, floods, etc have hampered everything. It doens't bother me if an order is a day late. I'd rather people in those areas were safe.

I ordered an item from AMZ yesterday--Sunday--- and paid the $2.99 for early delivery--4am-8 am--it isn't here and its 12:41 PST. I did receive an update from  them saying it would be here tomorrow--on Tuesday-- due to unforeseen delays----well, you know--that doesn't cut it with me. I want my $2.99 back! I did do a live chat and ended up getting $10 for my troubles. And that is ok with me----didn't expect that much--would have preferred the item I ordered  at the time I paid for it to show up --but $10 is $10--I only  asked for $2.99--just wonder how many milions of dollars this kind of thing cost consumers who don't request a refund---just an FYI

I didn't know they even had a chat?? How'd you get to it?
