@wagirl.  Do you suppose your item was in an East Coast warehouse and the weather hindered it's arrival?

@wagirl  I am a serial Amazon shopper, as I buy for a couple people as well.  I have found it's a rare occasion the next day delivery comes next day. Whether it's free, or 2.99 charge. I think sometimes it's the time of day you order. However, for some reason when I order next day, even same day for granddaughter in LA, it's there 98% of the time. I am in NorCal, and not me. In other words it's a ****** shoot. lol. There have been times I have needed it badly, and it doesn't come.  Then when I don't care. There it is, next day...7AM. No kidding.  Sorry that happens. From now on I wouldn't always totally depend on it.

ETA. I was totally shocked the other day, I RECIEVED 2 pkgs from snowed in areas of back East, ( not Amazon) in 2 days!  That was a pleasant unexpected surprise

Re: My chat with amazon

[ Edited ]

I just chatted with my niece who is snowed in (sent me pictures  as well) in Northern New Jersey.  They have no power for 3 hours now and don't have a generator.

I hope power restores soon for all. If @wagirl  it is medical please go to your nearest hospital or Urgent Care for medications or whatever it is you need immediately. Best.

Maybe I'm an oddball as a Prime member but I never got very upset if an item was delayed.

Amazon is very good.  Call there 800 number and you will be be refunded your 2.99 as you said?  I've always found them to be very nice and attentive.

When the winter weather is severe, states on the East coast disallow any commercial vehicles (& some other vehicles) from being on the roads in order for plows to do their job. This happened during the last big snowstorm in PA and during this past weekend's snowstorm. NY prohibited vehicles from being on the roads this weekend due to the snowstorm, & likely other states (NJ?) did the same.

My lawn/snow removal service person is also an Amazon delivery employee, & Amazon did not have him work today.

If I knew that there was a major snowstorm coming, I wouldn't schedule an order to be delivered at that time. I'd realize the order might not make it then.

I ordered something last week that came from New Jersey.  It wasn't supposed to arrive until the 26th at the earliest but was at my door on Saturday.  This morning I opened it and it wasn't what I expected so I boxed back up and DH brought it to CVS.  My full payment was refunded within the hour.

I was supposed to get an Amazon delivery today, but didn't pay extra for it.  I'm good with getting it tomorrow.  I don't think our mail got delivered either, but I didn't go out to the mailroom to check!

So happy I rarely shop on Amazon, and there is nothing I would ever need for an "early delivery."

I am sure the shareholders would not be happy with all the giveaways and complaints, but Amazon is doing booming business because many Americans prefer not to leave their homes---or their couches.

I prefer to support small businesses. Amazon  supports them too. I've gotten many items from small business on Amazon.

Jeff Bezos has many ways to get richer. All the people that don't complain about the unfulfilled $2.99 delivery represent pure profit. Keep complaining, girl.

Most times when the extra $$ for fast delivery is an option—it is usually located near my area and NOT hundreds/thousands of miles away. I am NOT so stupid as to expect a delivery to show up at my door if it were coming from the east coast in the middle of a freaking multi state blizzard!!! There are many AMZ warehouses in my area so I do use that option often. And so what if you don’t feel the need to complain for $$ paid for a service—-not complaining at all —was just stating about a good outcome to a problem.
