Re: Medic alert type buttons

Doubt BC-BS provides a free medic-alert type alarm. I have never read any information in my annual supplemental packages. Bummer!

Re: Medic alert type buttons

@Hazelfaye. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My Aunt also a widow had Life Alert after she lost her husband. She had a stroke and called for help. She was able to give them the code on her locked door to get in.

I bought a device from HSN a few years ago that did not require a fee but one also had to be able to talk. I do not know if they still sell them.  I know it works as I did not have the cover on in and had it in the car and my dog stepped on it  and a call went to 911. I told them what happened and I was ok and it was a mistake.  I have a land line and cell phone so have phones in all the rooms I use. I also live alone.

I bought a med alert device for my elderly friend.  She wouldn't use it and said it was a pain to wear around her neck.

Well, I went to check on her a day earlier than I normlly did and she was stranded by her kitchen sick holding on to the counter.  She was unable to walk and she didn't have her walker close by.

I thank God for making me go a day early to visit her or she would have been on the floor the next day.

Those types of devices work, but only if you are wearing them.  Get something comfortable that you can wear 24/7/365....even in bed at night.

@Kachina624 @Apple Watch prices are often less per month on a credit card than the cost of the monitor and monitoring fee. There are much less expensive Apple Watches too, but most of those don't have fall detection.

@Mindy D    Also factor in that you must have an Apple phone to use the watch and you're talking Major Bucks.

As long as we're here, watch for the TSV on the 12th.  It's supposed to be an Earth fisherman's sandal.  They are usually closed-toe sandals.  I find closed-toe sandals by Googling "fisherman's sandal" .

APPLE WATCH WITH FALL DETECTION STARTS AT $279. This one does not have the very durable screen. If you don't want to pair the watch with an Apple Phone, then you buy the watch with CELLULAR. The watch will function as both a watch and phone if you do that. You won't need a separate phone. B8C0E200-9593-4E55-93E1-620B9162A85D.png

@Mindy D

Regardless ofthe cost, the issues @Kachina624  mentioned with the watch are absolutely valid.
