Re: Loneliness - Perspective?

Hi @qvcaddition  Woman Happy

Thanks for responding.!  Woman Happy

Mine's a TracFone also, purchased from HSN, that included a 1 yr Minutes with purchase.  And I pay TracFone for Yearly renewals at less then $200/yr. Great price, imho.

And I also have it set up to associate with my home Cable  But, Im not even sure my TracFone uses my home Cable too, cause when Im overdue to pay the 1 year updated TracFone Hours, my TracFone phone stops working for calls.

But I do vaguely remember there's an Emergency TracFone Set up, provided, at least, with 1 press button, set up to alert Emergency & perhaps loved one/neighbor/whom ever alerts also. Perhaps worth checking out.

But I only know enough about Cell Phones to make me dangerous. And still (forever) learning.  heh

@monicakm  (here)  is a technological Super Guru genius, imho,  & continues to keep learning electronics (& beauty) all the time.

Im leaning on her too help me do what i must to set my house totally electronically, so that no matter where in my house, I can *yell out* for help during Emergency. Or,if I feel, (or, even listen to music, or call out shopping list, etc.)  My progress is going slowly, on this, ONLY, because Im still trying to integrate these efforts with ongoing chores that interrupt this electronic progress & set up.

But @monicakm is incredible at this & other electronics, & very very giving to help!  (Besides, she's kewl too).  She was even helping me with Color Blindness, pre my cataract surgery.  She's a gem!As are MANY here as well.  (Just have to pay attention, & ferret those out the gems. The gems here reveal themselves, in time. heh)

Im happy you continue to connect & chat with us here.  You're a kewl person, with much to share, and wow, can I learn from your 88 yrs, that you are! And soo authentic!  Woman Happy You too are a gem!

LOL, I've used that line (but not about cell phones) SO many times over the years.  Thanks for the nice kudos.  I don't know anything about Trac-phones tho or how the plans work. We have an unlimited everything plan with Verizon.

Re: Loneliness - Perspective?

HSN used to sell a type of alarm like Life Alert but no monthly fee. I know it works as forgot the cover and my big dog stepped the button by mistake in the car, and 911 was called. I was embarassed. Perhaps something similar could be found? I don't really use it as still have a landline phones around the house for now. It isn't that expensive so kept it along with my Cell.

Hi @UpNorthGorgy

Thanks for this info.

Can you describe what the button looked like?

Do you think you might recognize this if you saw it again?

Re: Loneliness - Perspective?

[ Edited ]

Sometimes I feel lonely. I am divorced, no children.

2 of my best friends passed away over the past 3 years. Old friends I have had for years have drifted away. I do have a few friends though. One for years since Jr High, and 2 newer ones.

But some days it hits me and I feel very lonely. I dont dwell on it but I do cry sometimes. Then I get busy doing things around the apartment.

I do have some limits with old injuries of back and things so I dont feel like volunteering or the like. Years ago I did volunteer alot and was always going out with friends.

But now Im more of a homebody. Every once in a while I do meet an old friend for dinner so that is always nice.

Re: Loneliness - Perspective?

@JoyFilled Warrior  Hello...Very similar. The call button on mine is all red but the 911 wording is the same. I bought it five years ago or so.  I  forget to take it with me when I don't have my phone, like out walking alone.

My Aunt had strokes and used her Life Alert  that she had and was able to give the EMTs the code numbers to get in her home.  She wore hers all the time. A massive stroke  sadly took her life in the end. She saved alot of money for a very nice nursing home for her and her husband who died in his sleep before her. I inherited a nice sum. One never knows?

Re: Loneliness - Perspective?

Thank you Joy Filled Warrior!

Sometimes I feel abandoned.  Due to losing 2 of my best friends especially 1 of those.

Its been tough to deal with and I feel lost at times.  My Mom is gone for 12 years and my Dad has dementia. This all makes me feel very lonely and sad.

But I have to do what I need to do for me and live as best that I can even though its not easy at times.

Hi   @UpNorthGorgy   @MorningMango

THANK YOU!!

I plan to pursue this for myself, (esp while moving toward electronic-izing my house here, as time allows).

I had no idea there was an option of Non-Subscription Button!  I'm going to pursue this.

BTW, @UpNorthGorgy  @MorningMango

I see y'all are somewhat new here:  -->
